Stormy,
You're way too hard on yourself and stop calling yourself ignorant. You're not.
By the way, I am also deficient in my knowledge about movies just as an FYI.

Edit: make that Chained Heat. My bad.
The film? Actually, no, not until now. I wouldn't even know it existed if you hadn't mentioned it, and if Google weren't around to fill me in. And I still only know the title and it was a 1983 movie, about prison life.
When it comes to movies I'm seriously culturally challenged. I probably haven't watched 2 dozen movies in my 69 year lifetime, on TV, DVD, VHS, or in the theater. And I'm sure a fourth of those were a waste of time.
I think I have watched more than 2 dozen but I am still at the bottom end of the scale regarding movie watching. So I feel better after reading your post
By the way, several years ago, I had this one job where all my colleagues talked about were movies. It was pretty tough fitting in

I am just wondering if straight men with a lifetime prison sentence with no possibility of parole would want to have a sex change to become a lesbian. That would make an interesting movie. Or has that one already been made?

Speaking of gender changes, I think I will feel a little queasy at first sharing the women's bathroom with a person who used to be a man. I don't think of myself as biased in general so I'll probably get used to it after awhile. I'm somewhat suspicious even now when I use a restroom and wonder if I'm being filmed. So now, I get to add one more stress to the mix. The next stressor will come when at the fitness center, when I'll be sharing the women's locker room with a transgender.

You are already sharing bathrooms and locker rooms with transgender people and have for years and years. So it is not an issue to get your knickers in a knot about.

You are joking, right? It takes years to arrange that plus therapy to make sure this is really beneficial. It is not something you do on the spur of the moment like getting your hair cut.
I really didn't think people were this ignorant.

The only trans-anything that disturb me are the really lousy ones.
Like it really was spur of the moment; or a drunken dare, but serious, not humorous.
When you can't tell, or maybe just barely--now that's art.
Anything well done deserves a little credit.
As for bathrooms, we have stalls, for goodness sake; I would appreciate it if the last person using the stall I'm in
would please put the seat down, and use a tissue on the floor. (dribbles are creepy, even at home!)

I grew up in a very small town. I didn't even know there was such a thing as homosexuals until after I was married. Yes ignorant people do exist. I had a very dear friend that was gay. We square danced together when I was single. I have been a hairstylist for most of my life and I am still haven't learned it all I guess.

Stormy, don't pay any attention to those who think they know everything and especially those that insult you. However, that's fairly standard behavior for elitists that think they're superior to everyone.

Ignorance can be bliss. I didn't feel insulted at all. I do think a comment was meant to insult me but I just took it for what it was worth.

Feeling a bit inferior are you? Yes there are LOTS of people who know more then you.

Several years ago a woman at work complained about her elderly father, who she cared for on a rotating basis, making a mess in the bathroom every time he peed. Well, as I have gotten older I've come to understand why that was so. You see, as we men get older our boy part becomes less of a fire nozzle and more of a garden sprayer!

No one mentioned you. However, apparently we hit a sore spot on a condescending elitist.
