That's good news, oak. Congrats.

Coincidentally, last night I also slept thru the whole night for the first time in a decade. I didn't even wake up to pee around 2am like I always do... that's a new benchmark for me

DoriC: We purchased the little strap at a local medical supply store when I was trying (bad idea) to use a nasal mask. At bedtime, my wife loops each end of the little strap through the two lower mandibular connections of the QFX strap. Right after that, the QFX ends snap into the mask and I'm off to slumberland. Last night we put the mask on at 10:30 and the next thing I knew it was 6:30 a.m. I lifted weights this morning, rode my bike 10 miles in 88° Heartland heat and then bowled three games at the local lanes. I'm 63 and could not have done this a year ago. Hang in, Dori.

Whoops, I forgot to mention that this morning I simply unfastened the lower QFX straps from the mask and the velcro chin strap simply came off on its own. No problem! Good luck to the two of you!

Hmm, So I might revisit the FX again the next time his Quattro FF gets leaky. I found a velcro strap in our cpap treasure chest, don't know where it came from but might do the trick as long as Mike can get the mask off himself and the strap doesn't get in the way.

My next project is to address the insomnia I have when falling asleep every nite . . .
Congrats on all your great progress, Oak. I have insomnia too. Some ideas: I stopped fighting it. If I'm not asleep in 15 or 20 minutes, I get up and read in another room or go for a walk either inside or outside (safe neighborhood) no matter how late. Or watch the tube. Or anything until I get drowsy. If I'm keyed up, I also take a sleeping aid. Talk to your doc about occasional as needed use.

I am trying to get off all antidepressants, anxiety meds, and sleep aids, some of which I have taken for several years, Papit, as I think they only make things worse when it comes to sleep, in my humble opinion. I actually think the antidepressants I take are the CAUSE of my insomnia. Unconsciously, I believe I was actually AFRAID to go to sleep because I was afraid I was going to stop breathing. At least for me, even occasional use of these psychotropic meds causes my sleep to be fragmented and I feel groggy the next day. At one time, I needed those meds, but with CPAP, I don't think I need them anymore, as my state of mind has improved immensely! Sleep deprivation really takes its toll on the mind as well as the body!

Thanks for the sentiment, though. We will see what the doc says at the end of August.
