I think this is where it would be a good idea to have input from a dentist. If the teeth are still stable and not loose..probably would still work just fine.
If it were me I would make an appointment with the dentist and make sure I had the mask and the mouth guard for that appointment and take it with me to the dentist so he could see it and how it fits....and advice as to if it would present a problem.
If he says not a good idea then use the free return insurance that comes with the purchase and send it back.

I have had several people ask me about crowns...this is one of the reasons that the Tap Pap makers suggest a visit with a dentist in the past year. Loose crowns could be a problem and easily spotted on a routine exam.
I have a bunch of crowns on my upper teeth...especially the front 4 upper teeth. I probably have more crowns on my uppers than natural teeth. They are all nice and solidly cemented in place. The mouth guard hasn't been a problem but I could see it being a problem if the crown is loose. If one is loose...it needs to be fixed anyway. I got to have a root canal on one of mine on the bottom back molar because I didn't catch it in time. This was a couple of years ago...just an old crown (as in 30 years old) that finally got tired.
My 4 upper front teeth crowns were courtesy of an old injury when I was a kid that damaged them and caused discoloration to 3 of them...had to do the 4th to match color so they look pretty.
So the Tap Pap can safely be used by people with crowns...just make sure (by a visit to the dentist) that they aren't loose or needing repair.

The reason I mentioned the sucking thing. Seems like we cpap users tend to try to do everything really well and that includes when we are told to suck for the fit...we don't do it half way. I know I didn't that first time. I did some serious sucking and got my first fit way too tight. It takes only a little gentle sucking to get the mouth guard molded to the teeth. It does not have to be skin tight to be stable.

I've been using the TapPap for 3 nights now.
I'm a mouth breather who tapes. I also usually wear a night guard, a chin strap and before trying this, the Wisp.

I want this devise to work for me as its very comfortable and "it" doesn't leak. I could also do away with the night guard as this would stop my teeth grinding problem as it's like a mouth guard.

But I just have not found a way to stop my mouth breathing using this devise. There is a little plastic bar that connects the mouth guard to the frame. It's between your lips. Even if I tape all around it my lips are never going to be together with no space for air to escape.

I tried all sorts of different solutions and decided if I need to stand in front of the mirror tapping and putting on straps for 10 minutes a night to make it work it wasn't worth it.

Now maybe if you "sometimes" mouth breath a little and it doesn't wake you up or cause dry mouth it would be worth a try as its like having nothing on.....but if your face is full of tape and you still have straps from your chin strap then it's not any different then my normal night with the Wisp, tape and my chin strap.

After another great night sleep(8 1/2 hrs w/ no arousal's) thanks to the headrest . i see no need to pursue another unknown. the main advantage i see in this new devise is no head gear to yank out hair(no problem there) at the cost of shoving something foreign in your mouth for the nights duration.
since switching to the electric toothbrush a couple months back after dentist recommendation (still leery) after ten years of good checkups, i think staying the course is best for me. oral hygiene is a big deal with this child after 3 root canals many moons ago

So sorry it isn't working out for you. I am one of those "sometimes" mouth breathers and when I do it isn't nearly as pronounced as your reports show that your mouth breathing is and it doesn't wake me up so I don't care.

If someone is a serious mouth breather..then they aren't going to miraculously quit with the Tap Pap and the mouth guard.
I was hoping that maybe it might sort of reduce my mouth leaks but I haven't seen any miracle. I have some nights with no mouth leaks and some nights with my usual...just like I had with the Swift FX or any other mask I have used.

Sorry about the mouth leaking problem you are having. Have you tried raising the humidity/temp? I am an occasional mouth breather. A while back when having quite a bit of bother with mouth breathing - I tried upping the humidity and it did seem to help at the time. I figured that the drier my mouth became when exhaling through it, the more I needed to open my mouth - like we do when we have a dry mouth through the day and all we need is some moisture to relieve it so we can comfortably close it again. Also practicing keeping my tongue against the roof of my mouth while I was awake seemed to help. Just thought in case you haven't tried these things they might help - hope so.

Ok....got my TAP PAP yesterday, tried it last night and what an amazing seal, but......

1) I noticed the hose end does NOT fit into the hose end (too loose) with the F&P Icon Auto with heated hose. Changed out to the non-heated hose and works OK (has softer/rubber ends). No other mask I have tried has not fit snugly. Anyone notice this?

2) Had to take it off around 3am though as I woke up with tooth pain...perhaps I just have it too tightly fitted? I may be a clencher to could be a problem.

I used it with the CLimateLine heated hose and most recently with the PR S1 heated hose and it fit snugly enough not to come out.
I have never used a F & P machine or their heated hose though.

I had some tooth soreness for about 30 minutes after removing the mouth guard in the AM for about a week...never in the middle of the night and the soreness upon removing pretty much went away after about a week. I never have any discomfort now.
