I travel about 60% of the time and I never have need of housekeeping. So I simply put the "Do not Disturb" sign on my doorknob and truthfully, have never really thought about it.

No problems leaving mine out either but there is even a lazier option.

I've found if I get on a long roll of good sleep I can then go 1-2 nights without cpap and not be that bad off if I try to side sleep. So if I only have to travel 2 days/1 night I sometimes leave it home.

I carry a surge protector. I probably don't need it but it makes me feel better.

I empty the humidifier, leave the machine on the nightstand, remove the mask/short hose and wash it and put it in a drawer in the sink area on top of a washcloth. The long hose I wind around the machine. No problems or evidence it is disturbed in any way. Those housekeepers have seen it all. I would imagine a piece of equipment like that being messed with would garner them some serious trouble with hotel management. We can be cranky when someone messes with our ability to sleep well.

Do some masks come with travel bags? Is that an accessory that some people purchase?

Some masks do come with a bag. Most of the ones that I've gotten from ResMed came with a bag.
Heck, in a pinch you can even use a crown royal bag. They are about the same size in most cases.

I use that clear plastic shower cap they supply in the bathroom to cover my machine.
But I do bring one with me as not all hotels have them at the sink.

I know what you mean though, I don't like my hose packed away where it won't dry.

My first Quattro fx and mirage liberty from the first DME came with a little blue pouch with drawstrings. My replacement quattro fx was ordered with small headgear. The first DME refused to order small headgear which is why I switched. So, this mask came without headgear and the headgear was separate. I was happy with that since I didn't have to pay a copay on the more expensive mask with headgear only to toss the headgear. But that may explain why it did not have a pouch. My Oracle mask came with a plastic case, but I can't use it as I can't figure out how to detach the extra little hose from the mask. So, it doesn't fit. I have to use the pouch for the mask I am not using

Kind of casual. Make sure that I empty the humidifier tank in the morning (I do this at home as well, so it's habit by now), and lay the mask and hose in the ResMed bag (open) so that it dries.

I also take a power strip with surge protector and 15' cord with me that has been *very* useful, since we usually have several items to charge (a camera battery charger, 2 phones and an iPad) as well as running the cpap, and outlets aren't always convenient.

Haven't had any problems doing this.

Even if you don't empty the tank, it's pretty easy to remove the tank from the humidifier and sit it aside. That would greatly reduce the risk of water damage.

Are you supposed to empty the tank every day at home?

Some people do empty the tank each morning....some people just top it off. There are no hard fast rules about what to do.
It comes down to what a person prefers to do for their own wants or needs.
Some people feel better dumping the tank and letting it air dry...some people don't care.
Wide range of opinions on what is the "best" way to manage the water and/or cleaning the tank.
The "best" way is what a person is happy and content doing.

I am happy topping it off and every once in a while (not often for sure) I will dump the tank and give things a good hot water washing and rinsing and air dry for the day. I use distilled water (on well water and where we live a very high mineral content) and use up most of the water in the tank each night anyway due to my humidity preferences.

all of the RESMED masks that I got from my DME came in a blue drawstring cloth bag and large plastic bags. Some of the plastic bags had a ziplock top.

The Quattro Air that I received from Cpap.com came in a ziplock plastic bag, but did not have a drawstring cloth bag.

Plus when the DME gave me my machine, it came with a briefcase size travel for my RESMED S9 machine, humidifier, etc....... there are compartments in there for my mask and bag..

I've been using those blue cloth & ziplock bags to store my masks in while traveling & while at hotels.

Before that, they came in a really nice blue zipper bag (semi-rigid) with a side zippered pocket.
I still have several of those.

I use 1 for my current mask, 1 for my backup mask, & 1 for my prescriptions & related (i.e. eyeglass cleaner liquid, etc, etc.)
