I sent a request to papman offering to buy his machine but haven't heard back. I'm back to looking locally.

Specs:

https://www.dailycareinc.com/DS700S_p/d ... ronics.htm

What are the differences between that and papman's 760HS?

Specs:

Cosmetically they're different, but as far as I can tell the only technical difference is an SD card vs smart card?

The M series model 700 is an older one (5 years or so); I wouldn't bother with it unless you found one with low hours for under $200, since you have to get a special card and reader to look at data (the older models didn't use sd cards).

Send another message to Papman, he might have missed the first one. Eventually, there is Shawn's APAP as well (you do not know at this point that you even need a Bipap, and the 560 APAP is a great machine.

You might still be able to get the smart cards, but I don't know anyone who still sells the smart card reader anymore. < ...nobody... > Unfortunately, you can't use any old generic smart-card reader, and you need the special smart-card drivers. While the M-Series may be a good deal for a biPAP, if it doesn't have the smart card reader with the device, you may as be using a compliance-data-only machine. The M-Series model is also pretty out-dated, and that's why it's such a good deal - but only if you have the card and reader. It will not give you high-rate data like the newer PRS1 APAP. In other words, you don't get flow data, minute ventilation, tidal volume, etc., nor do you get the distinction between clear airway apnea and obstructive apnea or, in the case of PRS1 APAP, or biPAP, periodic breathing highlighting. There's a lot you don't get with this older machine. Unfortunately for you, it's not merely a cosmetic issue.

To my mind, APAP is looking better than BiPAP, unless you know you absolutely need biPAP, and even then, I'd likely by a newer model BiPAP with the SD card that Papman is selling, if it's still available.

Frankly, it looks like KP is just trying to get rid of its old, less useful stock, if they suggest the M-Series model.

The one was indicated to be a new old stock unit (of course, subject to verification). If it's a proprietary card and reader then yeah, not going to work for me.

I'll send papman another message.

I was holding out for papman's as he's including a mask (puts totals around the same). Also, I figured a bipap fell into the "better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it" category. The price difference between them is negligible when annualized for the life of the machine. You don't HAVE to use bipap features right?

2 strikes against the M series. It's out!

I think Pugsy has a line on the card reader for around $40 and the card for $10, but unless the machine is really cheap I wouldn't go for a model that old.

All bipaps can be used in cpap mode, but auto Bipap is not exactly like APAP, since you can't set pressure support to 0 with a PRS1, I think...

I'm an example of someone who uses a Bipap but doesn't really need one. I get just as good therapy with my APAP (S9 Autoset) when I use it instead of the Bipap.

My PR System One BiPAP Auto DS750 only has BiPAP and BiPAP modes. It's from late 2010. I believe that newer 750s and the 760s do have a straight
CPAP mode.

I think my 750 (v2.53) has a cpap mode but I haven't used it in a while, and I never used it in cpap mode. The Resmed S9 VPAP Auto has a cpap mode.

My 750 is running v1.24.

This seems similar to Shawn's, but the seller doesn't indicate the specific model.

Seems decent?

It's not even an auto, it's the 460. The Pro is a full data cpap but not an apap. Shawn's is the 560 apap = better.

That appears to be the same machine, a PR System One DS560 Auto with humidifier and heated hose.
It's being sold by a DME (Direct Home Medical), which claims to have sterilized it.

Sorry I am confused. The listing says Pro at the top in the header and then Auto at the bottom.

I think the link was just to reference an informational PDF, not necessarily indicative of the seller unless you saw something I didn't? The Direct Home Medical information indicates they're based out of NH.

You're essentially saying that Pro and Auto cannot coexist? Let me know and I'll send the seller a clarification email.
