Since it is Re$Med, I imagine they are just different enough to not be interchangeable.
No way are they going to allow someone to save a little money.
(I will be happy to take that comment back, if I am wrong!)

Look closely at the nose area in the image.
Instead of pillows, there is a little silicone cup over the lower portion of the nose.

Every time I see the name of this mask I hear the song from that damn blood glucose meter commercial.

That single strap from the mask to the headgear act like a lever to pull the mask out of position while tossing and turning. At least that was my experience with the FX.

No not wonky headgear at all if someone has used the Swift FX nasal pillow mask system. It might appear odd so someone using a different type of mask though...if they had never seen the Swift FX nasal pillow headgear. The headgear appears identical to me too. Looks to me like the nose cushion should be interchangeable with the other parts that come with the Swift FX nasal pillow system so maybe they got smart and now we have a Swift FX nose cushion as well as the traditional nasal pillows interface and the parts are all compatible and that would mean someone could use the Bella Loops with it but I don't know if the tension provided would be enough to keep the seal on the cushion. Only way to find out...try it.

Not available in the US right now. Looks like our Aussie friends got first rites of trial this time. With the traditional Swift FX nasal pillows it was Europe who got first rites with it. Unknown time frame for US sales right now. With the first Swift FX it was several months...hopefully this one won't take so long.

Or maybe a few of our Aussie friends who have been using the traditional Swift FX nasal pillows can get a hold of a cushion and see if it works with the regular headgear stuff.
Or maybe bootleg some cushions to willing guinea pigs here in the US.

Ideally, all you would need is the cushion--plugging in the elbow and headgear from an existing Swift FX.
But this is Re$Med, folks; I'm thinking no way in "hotel, echo, lima, lima"

I know, I know...but I watched the videos really close and the attachment parts...the little notched thingies looked the same.
Maybe ResMed makes more money by saving the money not to have to develop a brand new headgear for it.
Remember...research and development costs money also. Maybe, just maybe, they saved a ton of money on R & D for the headgear and they are happy with that profit margin.

I checked ResMed's site and both the short hose and the headgear part numbers are different for the
Swift FX and Swift FX nano.

However, the numbers are the same for the soft wraps for the headgear.

Dirty dogs..

Big whoopie on the soft wraps...I liked Padacheeks better anyway.

Automotive companies commonly use different part numbers (and prices) for identical parts.
Smart mechanics know when substitution can save some money (hubby fixed a Mazda truck with Ford parts)
Of course, that's just automotive parts. Re$Med? Nooo!
If they are interchangeable, we will be the first to know.

It's hard to get excited about this compared to the Wisp when I see ResMed using what looks like the same suspension system as the Swift FX (whether or not the connectors are identical as is now being speculated). Three reasons:

1) I remember how the back strap on the Swift FX, which looks just like the one on the Nano, would constantly ride back up and over my head, and that I had to keep trying to use hair clips to keep it down, unsuccessfully and finally had to purchase an extra cross strap from PadaCheek to try to control it; and then went to the Bella Loops;

2) The best part of the Wisp, aside from the easy-sealing nosepiece, is the double back harness, running both above and below the ears, which stays firmly in place and never tries to slide up, and that is totally missing from the Nano;

3) I'm no engineer, but it would seem to me that since nasal pillows are suspended under the nose, whereas a full nose cushion is suspended against the nose, that two different suspension systems would be required to make them work effectively. (See Robin Williams in "Patch Adams.")

But, as I said, I'm no engineer.

Regards, Nate

All very interesting! I am looking for a new mask and have been considering the Wisp.........Interesting debate on the pros and cons of the headgears. My first mask was the Swift FX, and I used it for quite awhile. I solved the shifting of the back strap by using the Velcro strip lab rat solution. On the other hand, I am wondering if the more substantial headgear on the Wisp might provide more stability. On the other hand, I use a chinstrap and that is one more thing on the head. On the other hand, I would be interested in trying the Bella Loops, I had already switched from the SwiftFX when they first came out. And I am also going to try fastening my chinstrap directly to my mask headgear....

Lots of questions....I hope it does not take too long before the Swift FX NANO is released in the U.S.
