I have allergies and asthma and so does my mom. We can both handle some scents, but not others. Fortunately they are "opposite" scents. So if she gets something she can't tolerate I usually can. Then we swap products. Makes it kinda handy

I have been this way many years. I still remember the horrible school year we had assigned seats on the school bus and my seat mate took a scent bath every morning in a scent that just about killed me. I would be gasping by the time we got to school.

Used to be able to smell the seniors, OMG, they had to have trouble with their sense of smell. Even when I could smell, it was hard to stand next to them.

I see so many people that use way much more laundry detergent then they should too, the scented kind, I used to be able to smell that on them. A 50 oz container will last the wife and me 3 months and I've seen guys at work go through a whole case in 2 months. Somewhere they got the notion they need a capfull or two to do a regular load of wash.

A real problem for me is the fabric softeners and dryer sheets. It seems that people think they have to use fabric softeners.

My husband once did the laundry with cheap, scented dryer sheets that came as a sample when we ran out of the unscented ones. I had to do the entire family's laundry over again, since I couldn't be in the house with stinky clothes, sheets, and towels. Not fun! He thought he could sneak it by me.

I have sensitive skin, too. I have to do a double rinse on our laundry, otherwise I get a rash from contact with the soap residue in clothing and sheets. That's a scandal in our drought prone area, but no way around it for me.

When the wife makes beans, me and my dog compete on who is better at "scenting" the room up.

I have trouble with smoke - any kind even the smoke from saging bothers me I also have trouble with some perfumes. I've had breathing issues off and on for a while now and notice that they are worsened by these things. I haven't been given a dx of why this happens, but it truly in not fun to experience.

A year ago I tried to use a gel nasal mask. The odor in that was so strong (chemical plastic smell) I couldn't use it. I also had the sensation of a powdery stuff in my throat.

I don't know if cpap would cause this condition to worsen...I would hope not. I do know I breathe better at night with pressured air opening my airways.
