And we gotta do leaks. This will include intentional, unintentional and total, software presentation of these values (does the program subtract intentional leak and only report unintentional?), how much leak is really bad (it's like a race when a newcomer arrives and they have a little blip of 70 LPM leak for 2 seconds and everybody starts screaming OH LOOK AT THAT YOU'RE GOING TO DIE LIKE RIGHT NOW OH THE HUMANITIES!!!), and graph interpretation of leaks.

Suggestion: mollette, maybe you could add the subject of each "Basics" thread to the thread heading so folks scanning will know what it's about. There's helpful info in these threads that we don't want people to miss. CPAP Basics - 7: Leaks

Sure, why not?

It will also serve to separate the wheat from the chaff, and allow us to use our minnowing forks to get bait.

A graphic explanation of intentional vs. unintentional leaks (although I don't know about the statement "All CPAP devices only measure TOTAL FLOW", unless they mean the differentiation is a "calculated" (as opposed to "measured") value):

One vendor's interpretation of "bad" leaks (although they don't say "bad". Indeed, these machines can make up an awful lot of ground in leak compensation, and one might consider a leak to be an issue only if it's an issue, i.e. dry mouth, nose or eyes, pressure runaway in APAP mode, wake-ups, SO complaints, waveform distortion resulting in inability to effectively determine respiratory events, etc.).

I'm not sure about your question. Why are the rates different from...?

The vent rates between the 2 graphs don't match up. Not off by much but off a little look at the pressure and vent rate real close...like the last pressure of 20 cm where it is easier to spot the difference.
I have noticed it before on other vent rate graphs for the Aloha. Never paid that much attention till this caught my eye.
The difference is really insignificant in the overall scheme of things so I didn't investigate any further.

Thanks Pugsy -- Turns out reading eyeglasses do have a purpose!
