That was my thought. I started steaming my filters then the hose and masks. I even did the short hose on my swift fx. I guess there is a big difference in steamers or maybe hoses. I have done this many times with no problems so I thought I would share. I just felt like crying when dlanbro had such a horrible experience. I am so glad he has forgiven me.

I believe there is a difference in the plastic used in the disposable tank and the dishwasher-safe tank.
The disposable tank may contain plastic with a lower melting point.

I am an old man, not in very good health and have been using CPAP for maybe 15(?) years. I wash in soap and warm water the mask parts that touch my skin every week. Other than that I never clean anything else and it hasn't killed me yet and I haven't had any kind of infection in the past year.

There have been debates on here with strong opinions on either extreme. So suit yourself.

Got a new hose and reservior yesterday. The DME gave me the more sturdy washable tank. It fits tighter in the humidifier and honestly I think that it helped with my dry mouth. Maybe this was a good thing over all. Now just to deal with my mask leaks. LOL. I have an appointment on friday to get fitted with a new one, hopefully that will make things that much better.

I've dunked the old style non-openable tank into boiling water. I haven't seen one of the new ones.

However, that's a good point. The spec I quoted is for the dishwashable tank.
