Well, I just finished doing yoga and, of course, I feel much better. Bottom line, I WILL get my prescription the way I want it one way or another. They'll probably end up actually wanting me get rid of me since I'm such a pain in the ass. No use making myself crazy about it. I don't need anything new at this moment. I have time to get my way

LOL.

Somewhat illegal in a big way, though.
OOPS, sorry for suggesting that, it just made me furious to see a Dr. treating a patient like that. It's your medical records, you are paying for the equipment (or your ins is) so why does the Dr. have to have his way? You are right, altering a written rx is illegal.

However since the one you have is a copy because it was faxed... if the only copies you have happen to say patient choice, then I'm sure that is how it was faxed to you.

No bail. If you get caught, its full denial that we know you.

Hello Pandatx,

Gosh, that is the strangest thing. Usually when I get Rxs with a preference, it's usually, "mask of patient's choice" or something similar. I've never actually seen a doctor write his name in a line like that. If a doctor has a preference in what type, brand or model of equipment, he will write for a specific machine. And I do see that quite often.

Regarding compliance, most insurances follow medicare guidelines requiring at least 4 or more hours of usage for 70% of the nights over any 30 day period during your first 90 days. The second part of compliance is that you see any treating physician between the 30th and 90th day after you get your equipment for a face to face visit where the doctor puts in your chart that you are using and benefitting. I don't know why you're being asked to go at both 30 and 90. Very strange indeed.

Hope that helps!

Love those dogs! Momma took a super great pic for sure! Gotta git, making burgers tonight.

Jim

pandatx wrote:How many times am I obligated to see the sleep doctor after the study? They have this whole schedule with me coming back in 30 days and then 90 days, etc. But I've had the study and I have my machine. Do I really need to keep messing with them once I get my RX?
I saw my doctor at 30 days and then he said see you next year.

pandatx wrote:This freaking sleep doctor is pissing me off! Grrrr. So they faxed me my prescription. And handwritten on it, it says "Dr Terrence Moore to choose" for all the equipment. Why do they have to do sh*t like this???

If ever you see this Dr again, demand he give you his home and cell phone number, home address, email address, and 3 common alternate numbers. Explain that you might need emergency access to replacements and that by putting that limitation on your Rx, he has volunteered his availability to you 24/7/365 for as long as you live or until a new Rx is issued to you. If he laughs, tell him you are serious and hand him a pen and paper.

I love your passion.
When I passed through this Rite of Passage for my equipment,
I evoked the Unruly Mob. It was torches and axes.......
and I did learn that it is much better to pillage before you burn.

.....at first my OSA addled mind got it backwards .

You go for it.
Get pissed off.
Demand what you want.....
and get it.

...and in the end, become your own best therapist.

You're doing great.

....anytime you say the word, we can gather the Unruly Mob.

We have a Xena on this board. I told her to channel her inner warrior princess when she was having similar problems with controlling technocrats.
