Yes, I can't believe how callous the DME was to take away someone's medical device that they need for their continued good health ... just remove it without a care ... all because of money!
And a doctor who won't see you because of no insurance. I thought they were supposed to "do no harm". So much for that ...

The wonderful squid and his beautiful wife have come and gone leaving in their wake an ecstatic me with a heaven sent machine. I feel a bit like cinderella ...I had a pumpkin (my old machine)....the evil witch took my pumpkin (DME).....and my wonderful fairy godfather (the great and honorable squid) brought me a carriage (ResMed 9 autoset). I am looking forward to many things not the least of which will be a good nights sleep tonight. I would say that last nights 2 hours of sleep (if that) were a nightmare but I don't think I actually slept enough in a single sitting to even hit REM sleep let alone have dreams/nightmares. I am looking forward to learning my new machine, it is definitely a cadillac compare to what I was used to. I am planning on downloading the sleepyhead and resmed software and will probably have way too many questions as I try to learn the software, tweeks to my machine, and most importantly a better understanding of my OSA and a more active role in managing it.
Thank you again Squid you are my hero!
FYI not only did squid give me a machine w/humidifier he also blessed me with a climate line heated tube, extra filters and took the time to not only show me the machine and how it works but also set it up for me!

Craigs list is another option, even an older brick is better than none. An old resmed cflex would be ok with max apap relief.
If I had a spare system id send it to you.
PLEASE make a new thread asking for a donated machine. Someone here can help. Or can buy you a machine, some
people are financially blessed here.
If I had the money id give it to you.
Or maybe we can all chip in a little and with a pool be enough?

I am not an overly emotional person, but reading through this thread, well let's just say my eyes aren't very dry. It is truly a blessing to witness such generosity among kindred spirits. We truly walk amongst angels. A ResMed S9 AutoSet with humidifier, Wow! Talk about your random act of kindness!

but instinctively tried to flick a tear away with my tongue;
now my tongue is stuck to my cheek!
Squid, you are awesome!
(Now where did I put the olive oil?)

salton wrote: A word of advice to anyone else who finds themselves in this position: If someone from the DME comes to pick up your machine, simply refuse to give it to them. Make them get a court order. That will at least buy some time so you don't put your life on the line.
Imagine how going to court to remove life sustaining equipment from someone would play out in a O'care world.
Adding a bit to this. If your insurance company follows Medicare guidelines, and most do, the only part of the whole kit and caboodle that is rented is the blower unit. The humidifier is paid for up front in full just like the mask, hose, and such. The only part the DME has a claim on is the blower, nothing more.
