I slept with my contour pillow yesterday for about 2 hour using the Mirage Quattro. I was on my side like normal and leaks were not a problem. The cutout section does help.

Actually, the one I use is similar, without the tie. Mine is an $8.00 standard pillow from Dollar General. I can punch it into shape something like a CPAP pillow and it stays that way (I think, cause it's cheap). It's on the small side, supports my head, and, when punched out of the way, gives me a little room for my mask.
I am a side sleeper and I've found the Quattro to be a little more forgiving than the Quattro FX. I think because the Fx has "wings" that stick out for the connection to the bottom straps. The Quattro doesn't. If the Quattro does start leaking along the edge, I can usually just roll more onto my side, putting pressure on the mask, and it stops.

Hi Jay,

Your post just made me realize that I forgot about an old pillow I had that might work. Just did a quick test with my old mirage quattro and by gosh, you were exactly right about it not leaking like the quattro FX does. Not sure how much support it would provide for the whole night but it is certainly worth a try.

Thats mine. I bury my face into the pillow more than they do, its not a problem. I was formerly a stomach sleeper before cpap.

sorry to be late to the party, but I tried the contour pillow with my Quattro and it did not work for a couple of reasons.

#1 it is super hard & my neck started to hurt after 2 hours
#2 the slot for the mask was great at first, but when I rolled over, I couldn't find the slot for the mask.

right now, I'm using the PAPillow sold by our sponsors... it has just the right about of flex to let my Quattro sit in it without getting pushed off of my face.. it is on the small side, but it works nicely for me.

I have eyed the buckwheat pillow, but it seems like it may be heavy and I like to shift my pillow around at night. I'm not sure I want to try to shift a 4 lb pillow.

I have a memory foam contour pillow. I sleep on my right side with the bulk of the mask hanging off the edge (Quattro). I have the straps adjusted a little looser on the pillow side (my right) and a little tighter on the up side (my left) so that The pillow sort of pushes the seal into exactly the right spot for me. If I spring a leak I just snuggle my face a little more in the pillow without needing to wake fully up.

Ths only works if you don't move much. Lately I have some hip pain so I turn a few times in the last few hours, but I'm ok on my left side too, not so much on my back.

Denial Dave, all late comers are welcomed to this pillow party and thanks for the link to the pap pillow. Your experience with your contour pillow is exactly the issue I have with mine.

I can find a spot but if I move even a millimeter, the leaks start occurring.

Jan, thanks for mentioning your experience with the memory foam contour pillow. I tried doing something similar but just couldn't make it work. Maybe I move too much?

Hope your hip pain feels better.

By the way, Bed Bath and Beyond seems to have a few of the pillows mentioned in this thread. Since they are one of the few places that lets you return them with a money back guarantee, I will probably go that route and pick something.

I wanted to let people know that I just ordered the deluxe cpap pillow through Bed Bath and Beyond. To be honest, it was pretty hard to decide so it came down to ordering from a place that offered a money back guarantee.

Also, based on my preferring to use the thick part of my contour pillow when I sleep on my side, it seemed this was a logical choice. Stay tuned.

I was late doing this because I think I hoped by trying my BiPap again at higher pressures without the neck collar, I could sleep on my back which I really prefer. But I am concerned about how tolerable this will be for the whole night.

I am also concerned because my preferred Quattro FX mask doesn't work at higher pressures while my old mirage quattro does. But in the past, I found the mask intolerable so again, stay tuned.

Perhaps I can find more comfort sleeping on my side with the right pillow at a lower pressure without the neck collar. Of course, I would prefer to be able to sleep on my back at a lower pressure without having to use anything else. But I have to deal with reality and select the best arrangement which isn't going to be perfect.
