I regret to inform you........that isn't going to happen with either of the two largest political parties.
I've always been a registered Republican, but have had to hold my nose many times when it came to going into the voting booth. Not because I've felt like I had to vote a straight party line, but because none of the options appealed to me.
The Democrats are out of control.......and the controlling interests on the Republican side have come to be fond of excessive spending and they don't seem to have a clue about how to "govern" when they ARE in power.
We're screwed, any way you look at it.

I agree with you. I will also say that part of the problem is not just the Democratic party. A huge part of the overall problem are the people who vote for Democrats. And with that, the "Im entitled to it" attitude. That "I want free stuff and Im entitled to it."
The ghetto welfare mentality has spread from the ghettos to middle class America. Thats the problem.

So you want to fly on Busted Air and land at O'Hare at the same time as 20 other planes want to land, every one of them assuming that all the others are watching out for it so they collide on the way down! And you want that burger at Mickey D's to have a 5%, maybe 35%, chance of being filled with botulism! Or maybe that should be 1% because at that rate it's cheaper to pay off the sick and their families than it is to make sure all the meat is botulism free. And of course, you want to be able to drive on roads that are financed and controlled by large corporations and that cost you a $1/mile to use. Let's see, what else do you want that comes along with a government free life? Oh, how about no stop signs, yield signs, or traffic signals on city streets. That would be the ultimate opportunity for "every man for himself!" How about buying a television set that works in Wisconsin, but not in Louisiana. After all, all government regulations are obstructions to free enterprise.
Get real man! The more you write, the more stupid you sound.

Besides, the University of Conspiracy Theory is my alma mater and I know he's too foolish to have gained admittance there.

Im talking about "cradle to grave" socialism, man. Not the usual "government" stuff like a local police department, fire department, EMS service, basic health and safety regulatory administrative agencies. But there has to be a limit to that stuff, otherwise it gets out of control.
We have too many people who just dont want to work. Too many people who want to be taken care of by the government (the taxpayer).

Here's a headline for you political extremists who believe there is a differnece in the corrupt two-party system called US democracy ...
By a vote of 267-151, the House today passed a measure to fund government programs up until the end of the fiscal year on September 30.
Neither side has any intention of solving problems .... but rather only making new ones.

Your anger is bizarre and inappropriate - I guess i don't get the endlessly angry old white man thing that constantly rants and raves on every and all issues. As to "all the free stuff" you keep claiming i'm looking for - I didn't even use the government for any of my schooling or ANYTHING - I went to private schools and then england for my graduate degrees - I'm unaware of getting even a penny from the US government or using government services for anything - can you say the same?
But if you want a country where there is no government, they are out there: Somalia and Haiti come to mind, not much government there at all - sounds like a paradise for you. Personally I prefer Scandinavia, with their very involved government of and by the people.

The funny thing is that it's here now. Yes, that's right it is here now. Right now as we type away. The changes from the ACA have been implemented for the past two years and continue with each passing day. My individual BCBS plan I pay for each month is "ACA Compliant" according to the policy. Plus, last year, BCBS spent slightly more than the minimum 80% of all premium dollars on actual medical care, and not overhead, for my particular plan. Again, an ACA requirement. Two major changes in 2014 are that no one can be denied a policy or overcharged because of a pre-existing condition, and that that the public 'exchanges' will open on the internet, allowing people a website to comparison shop for private policies (assuming they don't already get coverage elsewhere, like at work).
But the fact is the ACA has been and is already being implemented. And my BCBS PPO plan, which is already ACA compliant, covers CPAP and DME equipment just fine. They pay 80% and I pay the 20% remainder after my $500 deductible. And my premium is only about $265 a month.
So no, the apocalypse is not coming because of the ACA, anymore than it occurred in 1965 after Medicare began.

I can't take Eric at face value. His stuff reads too much like a liberal's parody of what he thinks a certain kind of conservative would say. It's a style of humor that wears thin quickly.
I expect January 1, 2014, to pass with the same complete lack of crisis as January 1, 2000, and December 21, 2012. For most of us, nothing will change. Our medical providers and insurers will remain the same. About half the medical care in this country is already provided by government, with Medicare, Medicaid, FEHB, Tricare, the VA, and state programs. The major change there will be the addition of new enrollment in Medicaid when the qualifying standard is made uniform nationally at 133 percent of the federal poverty level instead of being inconsistent from state to state. The new rules affecting health insurance as a benefit of employment (like being allowed to keep children on your policy to age 26) are largely already in effect. The biggest change will be the establishment of health insurance exchanges where the uninsured who earn too much for Medicaid can (and must) buy health insurance from private insurance companies, subject to price subsidies that depend on income. For those of us not in that category, the world will continue to spin on its axis just the way it always has (for better and for worse).
One of the most remarkable aspects of the PPACA is how non-radical it is, no matter what attempts are made to portray it as something else. More change might have been a good thing, but in essence it leaves the existing employment-benefit model in place, and supplements it with the exchanges and modified Medicaid eligibility to close the gaps. Physicians and hospitals are largely unaffected, since they will be dealing with the same private and governmental insurers they always have. I talk to hospital administrators all the time as part of my job, and no one seems to be expecting the apocalypse.
I will feel relief, however, as I think Eric should, because I will no longer be one pink slip away from being uninsured. For many of us, existing conditions make us substantially uninsurable. It is especially difficult for those of us approaching retirement age to count on finding new jobs with full benefits, but if we try to strike out on our own we face the risk of being unable to buy insurance. I expect Obamacare to boost entrepreneurs by letting those with pre-existing medical conditions take the risk of starting their own small businesses -- something many successful people would like to do and some have to do.

It's the norovirus for me. I assume that's why everyone else has time on their hands. By the way, sorry hyperlexis. Your post appeared while I was typing mine. I wouldn't have covered so much of the same ground if I'd seen it.
