Sleeping on my front, with a duvet up to my shoulders there's no problem with the vent (and that's set higher on my mask anyhow than the usual right angle place).
Last night I was paying attention to things - and think that part of my problem is that I sleep with the hose under the covers, so I'm constantly fighting to keep everything in place to protect that vent. I have a heated hose, now - and it's covered. So maybe if I slept with it outside the covers, then I can at least bring the blankets up to covering my mouth and cheeks?

I wonder if I'll wake up with a ton of water up my nose - I so hate that. Well, I'll try this too, and see.

Cage: I keep seeing myself in a football helmet snoozing away!!

On my way, Randy.

This shouldn't be an issue with the Swift FX. Since the coupling with the vent swivels 360 degrees, you can tuck the covers up to your chin and just swivel the coupling so the hose goes from your nose toward the head of the bed. That's what I do.

With another mask it might be a problem, but not with the Swift FX.
AH!! I always have the vent pointed down. When I started CPAP, I used the Opus 360 mask and strapped the vent over my head - and ALWAYS got a nose full of water because water slides downhill. . . so I've been very wary of moving the short hose to a downward slope. But if I'm going to try to sleep with the hose outside of the blankets, then I can try this as well. I'll let you know what happens, thanks!

I'm going to order a few today - I think if I do the large - then I will have that 'snuggle' feeling I get from digging into the blankets. I also can put a hole where the vent is and enable to pull the buff up to my eyeballs if I want to.

The pillow cushions or just the machine tend to give me so much congestion and ensuing allergy symptoms I am at a loss what to do.
I wonder if there is a pillow design out there somewhere (maybe look at masseuse or chiropractor table pillows?) that might allow you to sleep on your stomach with a mask. . . though there still is the mattress - but if the pillow is made of a foam that has an opening at the top, then air would not be an issue.

Do you have a hepa filter (the white filter) underneath the black washable filter on your machine? There is also an additional filter you can get, I haven't tried it, though. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... -pack.html Image

I sleep with an air purifier in my bedroom - and was doing so before I ever got onto cpap. That helps tremendously. I plan to get several more to go through out the house as I'm uber allergic to dust and this house is a dust factory. I can go into the bedroom, close the door and breathe the clean air for a few minutes - and everything clears up completely.

Does this congestion happen ONLY when you are on cpap? There maybe another issue other than allergy - it may be your humidifier setting.

Sometimes I'm on my side, but I really shouldn't as my AHI skyrockets when I'm on my side. I do much better on my back. It IS uber comfy though, and I miss it.

Pugsy wrote:Robysue used to sleep with her head totally under the covers...loved it because with the machine she could always have fresh air coming in. I am sure she made enough room so the vent wasn't blocked off though that wouldn't be so hard to do but I can see where partial face under the covers could present a problem.

Wonder if there would be some way to fix a little "cage" of some sort over the vent that would prevent the bedding from laying on the vent to block and still allow for adequate venting.
I'm still trying to think of how a cage would work. . . making one would be easy enough - - - though the material used would have to be a plastic or soft mesh of some sort.

Hm. I'll have to think on it for a bit.

I don't think you need the air to go directly "trough" the sheet or blanket. The idea is that the air pressure would push the sheet up enough to blow out underneath the sheet and then spread out under the sheet. Of course, to whatever degree the air does blow directly through the sheet, that's good, too.

I think those are intended for single night use for multi patient usage machines, for instance for sleep tests.

It's going to get wet from the humidifier and would probably be a good place for bacteria to grow if you kept using it.

Ah - ok. . . I've been expecting it to go through - no wonder it wasn't working very well. . . .lol. doh.

Living in coastal Santa Cruz, the temps and weather can swing wildly day to day and even dusk to dawn. It's always a problem figuring out what blankets to use on any given night. Sometimes they get bunched up and unused, pushed over to the side of the bed ... sometimes they are pulled up to my neck. I know, I'm the King of Pain living here in Callie.

I have always slept kind of buried under the blankets & still do. My mother-in-law has to pull the blankets back to wake me when I'm at her house. She was having trouble breathing & had to 'find' me to wake me (that was an ambulance nite). I never thought about the vent before, but since I've been doing this 13 yrs, I assume its safe.

Jen, you are the second person to suggest that I try snuggling in without worrying about the vent. I think I'm going this as soon as I am over this stomach bug.

I hope your Mom in law was ok.

LOL. . .13 years sounds like a tried and true, yep.

I have found that if my covers are too close to the vent, the venting air is quite a bit louder, and bothersome.

With respect to blankets, there has been no change for me at all.

but now I have an alien attached to my face each night.
