Pugsy, how is he doing? Did he say what it was like? Is he fine with getting the other eye down now.

I agree on the grey hair thing being individual. It is only "natural" if it feels right to you. Some people feel better in purple. Mine is grey because I am lazy and it is growing in ok. My mother looked much better with hers coloured.

The eye patch is bugging the crap out of him...some whining about it being claustrophobic..
They didn't give him the amnesia drug (or enough of it)...so he remembers the procedure..no problems with it particularly though. Said it was weird. They used an ultrasound to break up the cataract. He said it sounded like a drill and was rather unnerving.
Bugs him having to keep the eye closed and the other eye open. No pain, says it itches.
Said something about "now why did I have this done?" so I gave him a long list of reasons and he said..."don't you have a better reason"... Typical smart mouth which I am used to. He's doing fine. If he wasn't there wouldn't be the smart mouth.
I know him too well.

Pugsy, Gald hubby is doing well, good thing you are in charge of the eye drops, MIL, had major complications after cataract surg, swore up and down she was doing drops,problem was she wasn't getting them in her eye, we didn't find out until we watched her try and do it.
About hair color, I'm with you , ain't goin natural, no way, no how. Besides I look much better as a red head . Do you know about the little mascara like tubes of temporary color, they are just great if you have to wait for a real touch up. I've seen them in beauty supply stores, avaiable in several colors. Aw, glad you are both laughing about it.

It does sound like he went through more of an ordeal than most. I remembered all of it but was not really aware of much more than the fact that they were doing something. I also only had to wear the patch at night. I guess every case is different. Hope he gets used to the patch or can take it off soon.

I happen to like salt & pepper gray hair. Always have. Ever since Jeff Chandler in the movies years ago. *drool* My mom started out w/"horns" like Stewart Granger. *drool* I started out w/a white strip right down the center.

My ophthalmologist surgeon gave us the choice of "sedation" or no. I chose no 'cause I'm curious. He was GREAT and was talking and telling me what he was doing all the while he was doing it. Fascinating!! I had to wear a "cup" I could see thru for several days. Hubby just had one eye done and only had to wear dark glasses when out in sunshine or in bright lights and in high wind. He had his eye done by Dr Hazen, the younger, at Andersen Eye in Saginaw, his father was the one who did my other eye.

The jerk who did my first eye (at Kellogg Eye Center, U of M, in Ann Arbor) screwed up, despite my insistence that I wanted a distance lens 'cause I was used to wearing glasses for reading and did NOT want to have to wear them for driving, and gave me a reading lens. He opted to use his own judgement since at the time the eye he did tended to do better at reading than for distance. To add insult to injury he mis-measured my eye (a risk we are made aware of prior to surgery) and gave me a smaller lens than I needed so that I get HORRIBLE halos from lights at night and two cars coming at me w/headlights than one, the second one appearing to be aimed head on at me. I HAVE to wear a contact lens in that eye at night now in order to drive. Glasses don't help at bit. I so would like to kick that sheister in the shins every time I have to fight to get that *$^%$ contact lens in - and out.

This is something I have never had any experience with and wasn't in my medical field of expertise so I don't know much about it.
Looking for some comments from those of you who have had the cataract surgery. He's terrified.

I was terrified, too, and arranged for the ops to occur at Will Eye Hospital. Mine were done in 1997. Haven't had a moment of worry.
