Most of the time there will be no difference but sometimes a little finger will read a little differently then a middle or index finger. You can check this while you are awake and not active. Just put the unit on your various fingers and compare the readings.
You can also use your toes, but I find that more uncomfortable than my fingers...
Good idea, thanks!

I read in the manual that my CMS50F is not supposed to be worn for more than two hours. I cut the bottom part of the sensor off so it wasn't so tight that it was uncomfortable. I also used gauze around my finger so it didn't get so clammy. I am planning more surgery to remove the rest of the sensor body. I'm going to see if I can cut it way down so that I can just tape it to my finger.

Anyone have any suggestions for making this work?
I have Windows 8 64-bit and the software installer crashes my computer at "Extracting files" (note: this is for my CMS50F, not the CMS50E).
. . . Of course, as I typed that I realized that I did not run the installer using "Run as administrator" . . . so I just did. Did that fix it? Yup. Duh. Oh well. Problems that are easy to fix are nice to have every now and then. So it's working fine now. Of course, now that problem is solved, it's time to pick up the X-Acto knife and finish the surgery on the sensor, which may lead to another problem not so easily fixed . . . .

Oximeter comfort con't -
For the last few nights I tried different things - so far I tried the oximeter on my pinky finger - after making sure the pulse is the same as the finger I originally tried - the only problem I had was the oximeter kept scooting up toward the end of my finger, which woke me up - which wasn't good.
Then I tried the pad on the original finger I had the oximeter on (middle finger) and that didn't work. It was comfortable at first - but I woke up in the middle of the night with my finger absolutely throbbing and feeling like it's blood supply was being shut off. So, I removed it for the rest of the night, and that was the end of that.
Then I tried the pad on my ring finger after again checking the oxygen to make sure it read the same - and slept very comfortably all night. Yay. I don't think the padding will be needed. Thank you 4better02.
I'm loving the fact that I now have an alarm to wake me up if my O2 gets too low. I've often wondered why my doc never mentioned having an alarm . . . I remember a little boy that had apnea when I was in my twenties. . .he had alarms to strapped to him to wake him and his mother encase he stopped breathing.

Will the oximeter charge if plugged into a usb port on your computer? Or does it have to be plugged into the power adapter and into an outlet to charge?

Mine charges when plugged into the computer.

I forgot to mention that I wear the sensor on my pinky finger. The rest are not comfortable for me.

I did not get what model do you have?
I have the cheap CMS50D+, it just uses AAA batteries

I have the CMS50E - it has a L-ion battery in it - that's the only difference, from what I understand, between the two.

I see you have Zeo?
Do your Zeo waveforms correlate with your O2 waveforms, if so is it in a kind of predictable way, and how?

Here is a SpO2 image that I hope someone could help me with?
I see this big drop of O2 before the black line, which is when I woke up and took the finger off the CMS50D+.
Is this plunging period representing REM sleep?
If so, is it normal to have such a deep drop during REM sleep? How serious does it look?
I was not using my machine that night.
Your graph looks a lot like mine lately, One difference I had was my O2 dropped down to 53% for about 40 seconds. Needles to say my heart rate spiked to about 125 before it went back to a normal rhythm and like you I woke right up. I first attributed it to a artifact but then started taping my CMS50+ to my finger so if it moves my whole finger would have to come loose. One thing I did notice is about every 90 minutes it would start spiking and then level off. The longer I sleep the worse the spikes get and the longer they last so I'm kinda thinking mine is Rem related. Also when I look at my report it is only showing a 1 for artifact. I'm also wondering if these are centrals appearing in Rem?
I am do for a new machine and my insurance says I have to do a dump of the info on my machince (Yea right I have a brick that only gives compliance hours) so I am going to use this data for my dump.

I think I'd go show these graphs to my doc, guys. Those deep swings are so recurrent he might want to change or prescribe something.

Papit, thats exactly what I am going to do. Making an appointment first thing in the AM. The really strange thing is I just had a Sleep Study about 2 months ago and they just said continue on my set pressures. But I only was asleep for about 3 hours total. Like I said above the longer I sleep the deeper the spikes and the longer they last. I wonder if I could request a full night sleep not masked so they can see the max, and then get retitrated the next night since they then would know what I'm talking about?

4betterO2 wrote:I see you have Zeo?

The zeo doesn't do waveforms - like the O2 wave forms. I can give you two pictures for the zeo, one from the zeo site and the other from the sleepy head import:
03/05/2013 zeo import to sleepy head:
03/05/2013 zeo sleep coach graph from
http://mysleep.myzeo.com/
03/05/2013 O2 waveform starting, if I remember right a half an hour late because I lost some data. . . the first two graphs are from sleepy head / apnea indexes the second two graphs are from my oximeter correctly placed to show time.
So the zeo does not present in a way other than wake, light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep. I can see how the Oxygen and apnea EFFECTED my sleep, but cannot use the sleep graphs to predict or see how my sleep EFFECTED the apnea. . .other than maybe if I am having deep sleep and REM clusters - which I have. I've been able to see that when I go into deep and REM sleep I will tend toward apnea clusters. I can take the record of these to my doctor - which I'm about to do and say "SEE!! THIS IS AN ISSUE!!"
This particular night was a neck brace trial. Needless to say, I haven't slept with this particular neck brace again.
Hope this helps.
I think the oximeter has by far been the most helpful coupled with my apnea data.
