You're very lucky and might be the exception. I have tried filing claims and also called to ask and Pacific Blue Cross will not budge. I have told them how much they would be saving but they weren't interested.

Same, Greatwest (who I'm threw) will only cover it when I purchase it in person, I made the argument that they are going to be reimbursing me 100% anyways, so would they rather I order online for say $400/$500 or would they rather I order in person and spend double that.
I was informed in person, I almost did a backflip and yelled wth.... oh well, they are the ones paying me back. they just take for ever!! (I remember when I claimed a knee brace from an acl tear it took 7 months to get the reimbursement cheque!!

It must depend on your policy because my insurer is Great West Life as well.
Note that GWL covers me 100% for masks and hoses, only. They will not pay for filters or cleaning supplies. And they will only pay for part of the cost for cpap machines on the expectation that OHIP's ADL is paying their share, first (they won't pay for a cpap machine unless you have the receipt that says ADL has paid, first).
If your insurer is refusing to pay for masks and hoses, you might trying an appeal to your employer's benefits coordinator of the insurer decision not to pay. I've seen it before where the insurer tries to cut corners and refuse to pay even though they are supposed to be paying under their contract with the employer. Your employer can straighten this out. An example of this is payments for eye exams after OHIP stopped paying for them. At first, Great West Life denied all claims until they were told by the employer that they had to pay for the examinations.
