Oh I did not see, we use the same mask I tried to wear it loose as some here suggested but that did not work for me. My doctor said that most full face masks need to be worn fairly tightly to get a good seal. I have a moderatly high pressure setting 13 so tighten it up a bit but not to the point of discomfort and see if your leaks stop. I wish I could wear mine loosely but, alas I think if my pressure was below 10 I might be able to. Its been my experience that with my pressure settings and that mask you have to wear the mask pretty tight or it just leaks as it moves around. Give it another week or two If the FX mask just does not work for you go back to your DME and exchange it. Most offer an exchange policy 30 days or so.

It has to be loose enough for the seal to inflate. if it is too tight, it actually causes MORE leaks. Doctors and DMEs who do not use cpap machines themselves really don't know how to fit a mask properly. The mask will be tighter once the pressure is on, so you want it more loose before you turn it on.

My pressure is 11-17, and I my mask fits pretty well. I make it as loose as I can while keeping it in position. And I can feel the seal inflate when the pressure goes up to 11. I usually only have leaks if I drool too much.

my bi-level pressure is 20 ipap / 14 epap....loose is better... you need the seal to inflate for the mask to work properly.

for 95% of the night last night, my leak level was under 5... I had a spike to 15 right after I went to bed, due to my adjusting my mask & straps.http://www.resmed.com/us/products/mirag ... c=patients

on the right side of the page, is a fitting template you can print out to check size.... it only works for the Quattro... The quattro FX needs a special tool, that is supposed to come with the mask.

Okay, being new, I am still learning.

How do you check the leaks? I only know I leak because of the dreadful sounds it makes. Is there a way to check it on the machine each day?

I want to clarify, I did not mean so tight the pad does not inflate. Its a balancing game like the other folks said too tight and it leaks worse, too to loose it comes off at the slightest movement or just blows itself off. Experiment until you find the optimal settings for your headgear.

Yes waking up during the night at first is normal, I did at first but over a few weeks it will get better. The only thing that wakes me up now is if my mask shifts and begins to leak but that is not happening too often now.

Welcome to the forum.

First of all let's figure out EXACTLY which machine you are using because some models gather data that will help you evaluate your therapy with software...and that includes leak data.
The machine you state that you are using the REMstar Pro 2 C-Flex CPAP machine is a old discontinued model.
Does it look like this?

If it does we can talk about the data it collects and what you need to use the software to get that data.

It is a model that hasn't been used since prior to 2007 though. Very unlikely that a DME would have sold this model but maybe you got it from family or friend.
Can you look on the bottom of your blower unit and see if you spot a model number? Should be a 3 digit number on a silver sticker along with an 8 digit number.

So are you using an old machine for some reason??? Or mistaking the model name?

If you have a PR S1 machine..look at my signature line for PR S1 software options and you will have an idea of what data you will have available with using software.
Provide a model number and we can tell what model for sure you have.
