There is only one way to definitively get rid of CPAP:
It involves making breathing optional.

Let's not be overly pessimistic. I can believe some people cure apnea by weight loss.

Unfortunately:

Not many people succeed at weight loss.

It takes a long time.

Many who lose weight don't lose the apnea.

Lose the weight, it's a good idea. Just don't wait to start CPAP, hoping you'll get better on that mythical day you lose weight. You'll be ruining your health in the meantime.

Plain pessimistic seems to describe well.

Do you know what your AHI is now and if so, how do you know?
V, you just asked my question! I wonder what "minimal" is?

when I'm dead, my AHI will be minimal or zero.

until then, I choose to use it every night and breathe!

adherence rates: The MP3 @ starting at twelve minutes and twenty four seconds (condensed):
“Of 100 people who are diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and referred for CPAP 80 accept the CPAP, 40 continue at one year, of those 40 who continue after a year 20 are using it at the acceptable rate of 4 hours per night.”
49er wrote:Thank you for providing that. I don't think you can make any claim based on a study of 100 people.
Dr. Stepnowsky has been doing research into CPAP Adherence (as they call it now – I call it use) for many years. In the above statement he “summarizes the current literature” by giving the example of a hundred people to represent the percentages of those in the literature.

Dr. Barry Krakow mentions that Dr. Buteyko's theories are being found to be true:

Your post caught me on the road and I did not have the MP3 with me – so I downloaded. As it turns out the interview of 11/2012 was not on the site at that time and I ended up downloading a previous Dr. Krakow interview from a couple of years ago. I did e-mail Dr. Park who was glad for the heads up – did download a fresh copy and it works. The file should be 15,576,547 bytes (15.6 mb) and should have a date in November of this year displayed as it plays. The order of the files should be that it is the second one available since there has been only one expert interview since as of this date.

If what you have is working well for you great! For me the EERS has been a winter time game changer. I am much more positive and getting a bit more done.

Have a great new year 49er!

Now I only eat vegetable and fish-- no meat. It makes me feel good.

I will keep you updated, wait for my good news.
Reply,
non- fat meat is good but carbohydrates is the problem. The Doc who told you that losing 20 Lbs
could get you off CPAP forgot to mention that the fat tissues in you throat must be included.
