I would like to know if it is safe to use another persons cpap machine. I bought a used one at auction and had the pressures adjusted by a respiratory therapist to my settings. My concern is if the person had any type of infectious disease would it be able to be passed on through the machine. I have all new tubings and filters. The machine was cleansed with 70% Alcohol using a Q-tip to get into the hard to reach places. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated. TY

No!
Room air comes in the air intake and goes out to the user. As long as the intake air filters are cleaned or replaced, you shouldn't have any problems. A user couldn't blow hard enough against an air flow to "infect" the internal part of a CPAP machine.

Wash it well, use it, then tell friend how much better you felt so that when your machine arrives she may give it another try. Untreated apnea is a time bomb.

I think you are responding to a year old post. Shell2U's post is current but all prior are from 2012.
