The only Hostess product I ate as a child were Ding Dongs and very rarely. I hated Twinkies and other stuff.
I wait patiently each year for LITTLE DEBBIES to put out their Gingerbread men for the holidays. They are SO good. They are individually wrapped and very soft cookie. Not too ginergery--just perfect. I buy dozens of boxes and head for the local nursing homes. The old people LOVE them. It's like they are taken back to their childhood for a few minutes remembering grandma's gingerbread cookies. Since they are a commercial product and individually wrapped the administration doesn't worry about any homemade stuff that might make patients sick. And I always buy some sugar free candy or cookies for the diabetics so they don't get left out.
They are hard to find. They fly off the shelf and LITTLE DEBBIES only makes them from Thanksgiving to XMAS. So I'm already watching for them. I've never found them at Wal-Mart but Kroger almost always has them each holiday season.

That is a very generous and caring thing for you to do that for them! Hopefully your supply of the Little Debbies gingerbread treats will be plentiful this year!! Truth be told, they are probably even more excited that you took the time to come see them; the gingerbread treats are just a bonus

Fortunately, I went to college in the 60's before the socialists completely took over. One of the few things that I distinctly remember a professor saying, is that at that time, a union's only purpose was to increase the member's pay. Well played baker's union. How's that pay check looking now

They already took a cut, then the hedge fund took over and increased the CEO salary by 300% and the rest of the management by 80%. Maybe the union can buy the equipment and run it as a coop. They couldn't do worse.

Maybe since people have become so health conscious these days, the company has been selling less and less of their junk food..
With the combination of higher ceo's pay/bonuses and less sales....the writing was on the wall. Businesses fail miserably with less $$$$$ coming in and more $$$$$$ going out

Thanks, BlackSpinner!
What is with you people? The unions already made concessions and took benefit and pay cuts! Two hedge funds bought Hostess w/the intent of raiding the assets and value and then skipping out. Which is exactly what they are doing. The CEO takes a 300% pay raise, the other top brass take their share of undeserved, pirating pay raises, they will sell off all the brands they can to put more money in their pocket. Shades of Romney and Bain capital!!!! But that's all okay w/you.
Maybe your company will be next and then we'll see what verse of the song you will sing.

Hubby's retirement was protected by PBGC, Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation,
which was formed as a response to the fiasco at Studebaker.
The Stude officers raided the pension fund--CLEANED IT OUT; and the
faithful employees of 20, 30 years or more were left with NOTHING.
Unions fought for pension safeguards, but it took 30 years to get the protection we have now.
I don't believe ANYONE went to prison.

This may add some light to the picture also.

I feel for anyone that is trying to start and run a business in a non right-to-work state! With that said, to Hostess I say: Que Sera Sera, what ever will be, will be.
Merry Christmas!

It has always seemed strange to me... the things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.

Don't worry Slinky, our country is next! Won't you join us as we sing, Que Sera Sera to the Divided States of America ! It was good, while it lasted! I'll have to give it to good 'ol Obama, he has done a damn fine job of tearing down and dividing this country! He has managed in 4 years to set this country back almost 40 years in race relations!

If we are quoting Steinbeck on Twinkies, I prefer this one:
“This I believe: That the free, exploring mind of the individual human is the most valuable thing in the world. And this I would fight for: the freedom of the mind to take any direction it wishes, undirected. And this I must fight against: any idea, religion, or government which limits or destroys the individual.”
- not a belief that Union bosses support.
