Shameless self promotion......probably. However:

How about we keep this forum for helping others with sleep disorders and its treatment?

Then we move all arguments political and otherwise to another website meant for such disagreements, witty banter, and angry diatribes. (personally a fan of all of these!)

Soap Box War Dot Com anyone? You can argue about everything....especially this!

It will be gutted next May when my contract is up for negotiation. My employer has few options. If they keep it as is, they will have to pay the 40% Cadillac tax or pass it on to us. Something, they know we can't afford since we are not high wage earners. So, they will have to gut it below the tax requirements or cut it altogether. That won't go over well, so we will be at risk of a strike too. So, whether it happens or not, I HAVE to be prepared, and that means going bare bones on costs and somehow sticking up on food, pet supplies, medication, etc so that it doesn't all hit me at once next May.
The excise tax on "Cadillac plans" won't kick in until 2018, so no employer should be using it as an excuse to reduce benefits in 2013. The tax is payable by insurers, not employers (unless they self-insure) or employees. It is assessed only on the excess over $10,200 for individual coverage or $27,500 for family coverage. For example, the annual tax on an $11,000 individual policy would be $320 (40% of $800), not $4,400 (40% of $11,000). These thresholds are much higher than average premiums, and they will be indexed for inflation. I think any employer who tells employees that the tax on Cadillac plans is the reason it plans to gut health insurance now is just plain lying.

1 MILLION USING OBAMA PHONES IN OHIO

According to the Federal Communications Communication, a program that gives free or subsidized phones to low-income people has doubled in the state of Ohio over the past year, to cover more than 1 million people. The Dayton Daily News reports that the program cost the state of Ohio almost $27 million – just in the first quarter of 2012. That was a more than $11 million increase from the same period the previous year.
Taxpayers are covering this program two ways: direct cash expenditures, and a raise in phone rates via the “Universal Service Fund” charge on phone bills.
No wonder so many voters in Ohio are supporting Obama. They are getting Obama phones.

True? I guess it is.

I'm relieved to see Obamacare stay. If we can ever afford health insurance again, we will be able to get it, instead of being refused because of pre-existing health conditions.

The Republicans have only themselves to blame for the loss of the election. Rush Limbaugh claims to have 50,000,000 listeners, yet less than 6 million voted for Romney. Where were all the dittoheads yesterday?

That's been my write-in for every unopposed race I see on the ballot. Strange how it's always an unchallenged Republican when its an incumbent...

Rush claims 15 million not 50 -- and what is this 6 million for Romney?? He got over 57 million.
Your sources are highly suspect.

I am also relieved to know that the health care reform act will come to happen. My son is a 27 year old cancer survivor. I am gratified to know that he will be able to get affordable health care insurance throughout his lifetime. Perhaps if we engaged in fewer wars and spent less on the military we could reduce the deficit and take care of each other.

Remember, the first phase of "Obamacare" assured health care for children.
Guess which party fought even that?

Can I save money by not buying home owner's insurance, then, if it burns down, claim it's a preexisting condition

Q: Has the Obama administration started a program to use "taxpayer money" to give free cell phones to welfare recipients?

A: No. Low-income households have been eligible for discounted telephone service for more than a decade. But the program is funded by telecom companies, not by taxes, and the president has nothing to do with it.

Where I live, if you can't afford a car and insurance, you need a cell phone just to be able to use the city busses. All they post at the stops is a phone number to call instead of a schedule. Duh. Ever try to apply for a job without a phone number? I can't even call my doctors office without getting an answering machine telling me to leave a number. They just don't answer the phone anymore.

Here's a newer link. Imagine that! The program was started during the Reagan administration.

Did you have a cell phone when Reagan was President?
