But you did start with an Intellipap and were not happy with your S9, so now you have a PRS1. You should be using SH because it's the best you have.
I usually only display 4 graphs, because I don't snore and I use CPAP. So I don't need the other graphs.
It's not SO difficult for me, but I would not want to reccommend Resscan to people that only bearly knows their way around a computer. The user interface is just not intuitive and logical and the software is total bloatware for an enduser. I had my S9's for 5 months and I was supposed to be on the S9 for the long haul. Had I seen any advantage at all with Resscan, believe me, I would have used it. As it turned out, the S9's didn't like me, so with the switch to PRS1, Sleepyhead makes even more sense, as you say.
For most people snoring is one of the things that triggers the machines, so to get a good overview of the situation and see what triggered pressure increases, the snore grapf needs to be considered. You are lucky and do not snore, but most people do and then they will be scrolling. I can't really see anything wrong with scrolling, in Sleepyhead I keep the most important grapfs on top, where I can see it in one glance, then I scroll to see the other graphs.
Lizistired wrote:I said that you use SH because you use the 50D+ and the ZEO.
I have a 50F, it isn't worth the trouble.
The serial import is supposed to work with all CMS50X oximeters. I have lend my 50F to a familymember who is on O2 and struggles with his O2 sat. When I get it back I will check to see if it works. I normally only use the 50D+ because it's so comfortable to wear.
Lizistired wrote:ResScan gives great screenshots and more control over the graph ranges for Resmed data that SH does.
Version 4.1 has defaulted the display of flow data and high rate data download. Those were the few things we had to tell new users about.
All we have to tell them now is to turn off the navigation screen and the AHI in the detailed data.
SH does great things for advanced users and for those that cannot use ResScan because of their hardware.
But ResScan still makes more sense for a new S9 user.
I don't see how Resscan gives more control over the graph ranges, but there is certainly nothing I miss in the way of such control in Sleepyhead. Sleepyhead has allways had the flow data directly below the event flags, as it should be and the import is so fast on my pc that I hardly even see the green bar before it's ready and showing todays data.
As I see it, Sleepyhead is clearly the easiest program to use, by far. What's so great about it is that it also has the most advanced features, by far. But even the advanced features are readily available and easy to use. The program was made by a CPAP user, for CPAP users and it shows.
Resscan was made by Resmed for DME's, so getting paid is a big part of the program and also helping them to snatch peoples machines when they struggle with compliancy, and it shows.
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree about this. The great thing is that we both get what we need

It is faster. It displays oximeter data and Zeo data. I think it is easier to use and looks nicer.
A big advantage for Sleepyhead is that it will display Detailed Data when multiple nights are loaded and ResScan won't. For example, I loaded data into both programs on October 15 so both programs showed Detailed Data for October 14, the previous night. The next time I loaded data was this morning, October 20. Both programs displayed last night, October 19. Sleepyhead also displayed Detailed Data for October 15, 16, 17, and 18. ResScan did not.

ResScan will. In the download window, click select and select the number of days data you want to download. The default is set to 1 day but you can change the default in the same window.
Lizistired, you are right. I had checked under Options, Device Settings, and Settings and did not see a way to change the number of days downloaded. Why would they default to one day??? No answer needed.
Thanks for letting me know about this setting.

I am a relatively new user. How do I turn off the navigation screen (and why not use AHI in the detailed screen)?

Just to the right of your machine serial number, there is an icon with a graph and checkmark on it. Click on it and on the Navigation tab, set the # graphs to display to 0. Then you can select what you want to see in the Detailed tab. Some people find the navigation tap usefull. I find it takes up too much space and I don't need it.
The AHI graph is redundant. You really want the events graph. Events, leak, flow, snore to start out.
There is a tutorial link in my signature below if you haven't seen it. Good tips.

I can see the redundancy of having the two panes now. When I did as you suggested (tried to take the number of graphs down to zero) the machine wouldn't let me take it to zero. It seems to default to "1" graph and that one becomes inordinately large, as would be expected. I can live with it as is but it would be nice to just deal in the detail pane. Or at least be able to back and forth from one pane to the other if so desired.

You're right. I said that off the top of my head. I just looked at mine. In the navigation tab, uncheck all of the boxes. Then they shouldn't display. In the Detail tab check the ones you want to display and how many on the screen. Play with that and you will see the difference in the size of the graphs vs scrolling. It just depends on what you like best.

Thank you for the clarification. That is probably something I should have figured out by myself .

I noticed a curious difference between Rescan and Sleepyhead; only been using them a few months since I got an S9.
Monday night I forgot to place SD card in my unit (Adapt if it matters) and of course I got NO detailed data. The difference is that under Summary or Overview, Rescan has most info except AHI, but Sleepyhead has nothing at all. Not that the info Rescan showed was terribly useful, but it did have the ranges of leaks, resp rate, etc to have some idea how the night went. Just thought I'd throw that out, in case it was not common knowledge. earl
BTW, I am a fan of Sleepyhead for it's efficiency and ease of use; Rescan is for serious computer geeks...maybe why many MD's don't use it?

The reason that SleepyHead doesn't show anything at all when SD card is left out overnight is that SleepyHead needs some of those data files to pull from. Just the way SH was written.

Does using the Navigation Pane AND the Detailed Graphs Pane at the same time have any benefits?
Jay Aitchsee wrote:You can look at two different time scales at the same time. For example, you might have the Navigation Pane showing 8 hours while the detail pane shows 5 minutes. You can select an event in the navigation pane and then see the 5 minutes surrounding the event in the detail pane. It allows you to "navigate" to different events and see them in an expanded view.
StuUnderPressure wrote:Are the graphs in the Navigation Pane the same detailed graphs that are in the Detail Pane?
Jay Aitchsee wrote:You can choose which and how many variables are displayed in each. If you had the same variable selected for each, it would be the same except for the time scale. The number and type of variables available may vary with the type of machine in use, i.e. S8, S9, etc.
To choose the graphs for the navigation and detail panes, use the radio button with the picture of a graph on it just below "Device Log" to the right of the "serial number" in the header as shown in AVI's snip below.
To change the units, minimums, and maximums for each variable use "options" under "Tools" of the toolbar. To change the size of the graphs, click and drag the bottoms at the left side up or down.

I am a newbie and have fairly computer literate. But I have a MAC and don't want to run Windows emulation. I was thrilled to have the option of using SleepyHead. I find it very intuitive to use, easy to navigate, and think the presentation of data is fine. Granted, I have never seen anything else except what is posted on CPAPtalk, but I am very grateful for SleepyHead.
