So in answer to the OP question . . .
How Nasal Pillows Cause Flow Limitations & UARS???
But hey, I could be wrong. It is fine to think outside the box, Avi. But in a medical-therapy-centered forum, I think it important that we all try our best not to be misleading to the casual reader. It's all in how we each state what we believe, I believe.
Avi, See, that's the way to do it! Mandy Patankin played the role of Avigdor in the movie Yentl.

This is a great thread, and I have learned alot and lots to look into. Thanks to all.

Pugey is the best and I am so grateful to her. She is a wonder. On this subject of FL, I am just trying to learn. And I will be getting the Gosy and O rings and give them a try, thanks again.

Caution,

Those industrial O rings are made of material not necessarily compatible with the human body such as the true nasal pillows material is. As a matter of fact those O rings are probably toxic to your nostrils. So if you are a mature enough person you could decide for yourself if it's a misleading advice. You could also sue. Advice given on blogs is acceptable by the courts to be entered as law suits.

I have to admit, I tried o-rings, but the ones I got had that nasty odor of some china rubber products that I decided wasn't an option for me.

avit

Sorry, I didn't mean to include in my last post that part of your post that refered to you, "the box thing." Not that the quote wasn't good advice for anybody. I don't know enough to even get in this debate, yet, lol. But the sue statement left me thinking WTH ??????????? We as a nation, have become sue happy and because of it people have died, as those who could have helped did not for fear of being sued. I am mature enough to take responsibility for all my actions. I would like to think that everybody else is too.

What kind of drama for popcorn would you like? Just let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

Ah, I see Pugsy beat me to it. I think Glamborn may have been the originator. That post changed my PAP life.
The o-rings Karen sent me arrived in the mail yesterday and THEY WORKED!! I haven't slept so well in....well, I can't remember when.

I did wake up a couple of times to re-adjust pillow placement, but a small push on the strap was enough to fix me up both times then I went right back to sleep. There was no wrestling with the mask, no struggling with leaks, and I was able to wear the mask strapped much more loosely so no face marks! I haven't downloaded any data but my display screen showed leaks of 1.2 and an AHI of 1.0. I can be happy with that.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I'm glad.

Congrats!

But let's all keep avi's observations in mind. Let's not shove the O-rings up our nose or grind them up into bits to sprinkle them on our cereal. That might be bad for us. And Glamborn hasn't posted in a while, so it might be hard to sue him.

Do they make Pink O-rings?

Who knows, as a past Biomedical Engineer (M.Sc.), Dr R. plus Dr Jonathan.. plus me , might coordinate a study to find out if nasal pillows masks cause elevated Flow Limitation, UAR, and RERA? Think about it: a deviated septum, faulty nose turbinates, large uvula, Provent, etc., all cause it. So why not nasal pillows dangling off your nostrils?[/b]
Provent causes WHAT? You know that Dr. R had some role in the development or study of Provent?

I wondered that, too. But actually the black o-rings look pretty cool with the pink headgear!
