Madalot, Woodworker Junkie, Snug in a Rug, Phil in CA,
Thank you for what you said.
Madalot, I wanted to address some points you made that I meant to talk about earlier but didn't because there was just too much going on.
Frankly, I was stunned at the intense reactions my rant generated by so many people. You would have thought I was attacking someone's religion for crying out loud.
And you're right, the concept of courtesy seems to have gone out the window by alot of people on this thread. But I guess I shouldn't be shocked in light of what is happening in this society.
As someone who knows I am prolonging the thread with this post, I agree that it is time for it to die.

I am ONLY posting because the thread was not very far down the page. Had it been further down, obviously on its way out, I wouldn't have bothered. I feel I need to explain my previous comment about being handicapped.
Being disabled and forced to use a powerchair, I have witnessed a ton of human kindness, which is so wonderful to see and experience. I have also, unfortunately, been the victim of people (and I am NOT saying anything about where their beliefs come from because I don't know and don't care) that have been rude, mean and overtly hostile to me because I dare to be out where I either infringe upon their space or dare to make them have to see me.
Yesterday, a young woman decided that she didn't want to park in a regular parking space and pulled into the lined area next to the van accessible handicapped spot we were parked in. The way she was parked blocked access to my ramp. We came out of the store, ready to load up and go home (we had frozen foods) and I couldn't get in my van! I was pissed. A parking lot full of spaces and she has to do that? When she finally came out, I did say something to her. She ignored me, got in her car, gunned it, then flipped me off! Seriously? She's one of "those" that think someone like me doesn't deserve the space -- or probably thinks I shouldn't be let out of the house.
It doesn't happen often, but I've been using my chair out of my house for 4 years now and I been the victim of those people at least 2-4 times a year.
I try to focus on the good and not dwell on the bad, but it's hard when something like that happens. And frankly, I've gotten pretty good at "sniffing" out people that are likely to treat a handicapped person in that manner.

Madalot... needless to say, I'm so sorry you have been the recipient of this nasty woman, in particular, but also the others you mentioned. I guess I just don't want to believe it. Personally, I've never witnessed such a happening and if I did would not be able to contain myself. I have to believe there are more good people than nasty people in the world, at least that's what I tell my granddaughter. Hugs to you.

Why don't you point out one thing "nasty" that was said to Madalot in this thread? There is nothing there - check all the posts.
It is just something you are creating to satisfy some perverse desire of yours.
You have zero credibility because you can't reference one bit of evidence of what you claim.
You think if you can post a lie often enough then people will believe it?
Where is the evidence? You don't have any.

Madalot and ems,
I am sure that there are a lot more nice people than not... that said, I also believe that there are more unhappy people all the time; a symptom of the times we are living in, in IMO.
I am disabled, on top of suffering from OSA... go figure and I have seen lots of selfish people taking advantage of "handicapped" parking spots that were designed to help provide a more "level" environment for the disabled. I can only shrug my shoulders and move on, since there is not enough time in my day to waste time over it.
I am still awaiting my cpap machine, which should be here this coming Tuesday, but have spent hours here reading and learning. I have never found a place quite as wonderful as this one... I am very happy to be here... this thread not withstanding.
Thanks for your consideration and for listening and being part of such a great home on the internet...
Gratefully yours,
Phil

CG... too funny! I wasn't referring to you! I was referring to the woman who Madalot mentioned in her post... ya know... the woman who parked so she couldn't move her car. LOL! You certainly have a guilty conscious!

Phil... I just typed this long welcome to you and then somehow deleted the entire post. So, at this point, I'm just going to welcome you here and assure you that the majority of folks on this forum are kind and caring. I hope this thread doesn't scare you away.
I'm sure you are looking forward to getting your machine... I remember when I got mine. Please post and let us know how you get on with it. If you have questions, you can look forward to knowledgeable responses from many.
Edit: Boo is quite adorable!

Madalot,
I am so sorry for what you have experienced. I can't repeat on this forum what I think of that young woman who blocked access to your vehicle.
Phil, I also wanted to welcome you to the forum. Agree that this thread is not representative of how great people really are and how helpful they have been.

Thank you, ems and 49er!
No worries about being chased away! LOL! I have had to get "thick skin" as a disabled person...
I certainly post once I get my machine. You haven't seen the last of me, not by a long shot.
Thanks for the kind introduction.
Phil
Ps Boo IS adorable, but then again, I am biased! ;2)

I see the problem here. It is Amazon. No one should use Amazon!
Excellent animated video just released 10/10/2012 explaining the dangers of Amazon -

Awww, thanks. Such is life, though. For the most part, people are GREAT. I only run into people like that a few times a year, so it's all good. I try to get over it and when I'm really angry, like the other night, try to think about all the acts of kindness I've experienced - and focus on them!

LOL -- I guess "nasty" is in the eyes of the beholder. The ONLY nasty thing said to me, in this thread, was by you. But that comment was so stupid I just laughed it off.

Phil,
Welcome to the forum. Being disabled yourself, I'm sure you can get where I am coming from! But I DO agree that overall, there are more kind people. We have to remember that, but it gets difficult when somebody does something like the other night. But I also think you're right. People that behave that way are really very unhappy people and probably deserve our sympathy as much as our anger. I'll have to try to remember that as a coping tool. Thanks!
I will be watching the forum for updates on your equipment arrival and how you're doing. Keep us updated!

To refresh folk's memory, if you invoke the free shipping option that you qualify for on Amazon with also a minimum of $25, it will take 5 to 8 business days vs. 3 to 5.
I have found that everything arrives much faster than the estimate. I suspect that they give a longer estimate to get people to chose to pay for shipping. I've seen estimates for 2 weeks, only to get it 3 days later.

LOL -- Could be, but they also *might* be giving longer arrival estimates to protect themselves from people that would complain if their order doesn't arrive EXACTLY when estimated. There are people in the world that if the estimated arrival is between the 10th & the 15th, would start calling and complaining when it didn't arrive by the 10th.
In my husband's line of work (lawn & landscaping), he sometimes tells people that he will be there "sometime next week" and when he isn't there at 8:00 am MONDAY, they call complaining.
