As far as body changes while on TRT - I have noticed a little more bulk and tone to my chest, shoulders and upper arms, but still have the love handles and a bit of a belly. The one thing I wish it would help is my libido. I know everything still functions - the morning wood has returned. Unfortunately, I don't feel like doing anything with it - except on the rare ocassions that I succumb to the obvious flirtations of my partner.
I think I will as my dr about home injections. I know it would be a heck of a lot cheaper than any of transdermal products.

Randyp1234,
See if your Dr. will let you injections at home. My Endo would not, the hugh clinic stopped letting anyone doing them at home. I get my allergy shots at the same place and was 1 of the last 5 to get to do my own allergy shots. My general Dr set me up. I can do them myself but I have a nurse across the street that I let do it. And depending on your insurance it is cheap.

Once we get a handle on how often I'll need the shots I'm definitely going to ask him about that. He's a pretty easy going guy and I'm guessing he'll be agreeable to it. Sure hope so.

One thing about the injectable testosterone for TRT. The main injectable for TRT in the USA is testosterone cypionate. That is supposed to be THE BEST androgen. It is the one American athletes abuse if they can get their hands on the stuff. It is supposedly VERY effective, there is obviously no problem with absorption as their sometimes is with the transdermal gels such as Androgel and Testim.
Anyway, the reason Im mentioning this is there is reportedly a major shortage of testosterone cypionate in the USA right now. I have heard a variety of reasons for the shortage. Everything from, "the DEA is cracking down on injectable TRTs" to "the major drug companies that make the patented, highly profitable but rather weak transdermal gels want it banned so eveybody has to use a patented gel." The generic testosterone cypionate is reportedly much cheaper AND reportedly more effective than the on patent TRT transdermal products.
Still another kinda weird explanation Ive heard for the shortage of testosterone cypionate is something called "the war on men" being waged by a handful of female politicians with feminist tendencies. I personally dont believe that. Another weird explanation/rumor about the shortage is that there are a lot of "female to male" transgender people drying up the supply of testosterone cypionate...probably because the injections are the most potent at masculinizing females so they can become male.

Well I'll be staying clear of this stuff if that's the case since I'll wake up with nothing to do with it.

I have a love/love relationship with CPAP. Aint nothing about it I dont love.
I have a love/hate relationship with testosterone.
I dont like how it increases my APAP pressures, I dont like how it elevates my hypertension, I dont like putting that gel crap on in the morning it is a PITA and makes working out more difficult. Testosterone makes my chest kinda tight feeling. On the other hand, testosterone restores the size of my adams apple which is cool and makes my voice deeper like it used to be when I was younger. And Im a little stronger on the stuff, not much but some. Sometimes it increases my libido...a lot when I first start it but the libido thing fades out after a couple weeks with me.
So, TRT, hmmmmmm wow, I dont know I think I could live with it or without it. But the CPAP, aint no way in hell I could live without that. I gotta breathe and gotta be able to sleep and not wake up twenty times a night.

I don't know whether to or Eric. But in case you're feeling "aggressive" and want to verbally eviscerate someone, I'm here for you. Yup, still here in this thread, despite you trying to kick me out. In fact, I'm going to be subscribed to this thread until I hit the veil. Just saying.

Do you have some sort of personal issue with a middle aged man being glad his adams apple grows back after administration of TRT? Why are you laughing or rolling your eyes about that? You seem to have issues with males missing their masculine characteristics due to an endocrine problem of low testosterone. You appear to be some sort of cyber bully.
Perhaps you feel threatened somehow by men talking about how TRT restored their Adams apple. Just speculating there, but you appear to have some shall we say, issues? Do you have a job? Perhaps you have too much time on your hands?

(Sigh. It appears that this thread has already degenerated, but I will respond anyway.)
Testosterone supplementation made the "depression" I had been struggling with all my adult life go away overnight. My testosterone was pretty low, I was at 80 with a normal range of 250 - 1000, so people closer to normal might not get the dramatic results that I did. After a decade of being single and celibate I just moved in with an amazing lady. I'm working on changing careers to something that would be more satisfying. I am infinitely more social. Before testosterone most weekends were spent at home napping; now I'm a little too busy. "This American Life" did an episode on testosterone about ten years go. Act One, "Life At Zero," describes a lot of what I experienced.
But the question is about testosterone as related to SA and CPAP.
I used to weight around 320. I assumed I had sleep apnea, but I went on a trip with friends and was surprised to find I didn't snore. I also had a long cocktail-party conversation with Dr. Dement and he was pretty sure I didn't have SA. With the lifestyle changes brought on my a normal testosterone I lost about 80 pounds while putting on about 20 pounds of muscle. I now have sleep apnea.
I have to wonder if getting SA when my overall health has improved so dramatically is related to the testosterone. I am getting normal secondary characteristics. My voice has changed and I am losing my hair to look like every other male member of my family. I am a sample of one, but I do wonder...
Testosterone supplementation has a complicated relationship with society. There are people who talk about "testosterone poisoning" and others who talk about "the war on men." With so many emotions swirling about it is hard to find the truth. Add in the fact that testosterone is used by athletes looking for an advantage and older men resisting the aging process and we find an environment where rational thought, let alone rational discourse, is all but impossible. But for me, normalizing my testosterone levels has changed my life. But I think it gave me SA.

It is quite possible that simply being 320...morbid obesity...caused your low T. I am so glad to hear of a simple TRT success story. I am also not at all surprised that perhaps the TRT caused sleep apnea in yourself. As I know warnings about testosterone causing/exacerbating sleep apnea are all over all of the Androgel and Testim monographs.
I would bet that since the TRT appears to have worked well for you, losing more weight would improve your testosterone profile even more. I'd be willing to bet on that.
And yes I think there is a sort of "war on men" in certain circles. In particular University campuses, not all but some. And in certain political circles, especially on the democratic, leftist or obama side that embraces feminism. Testosterone Replacement Therapy does get a bad rap in some cases that is unwarranted. On the other hand, testosterone is abused like crazy in college and professional and olympic sports.
I am just glad TRT worked for YOU, though!!

I feel sorry for you that you get so worked up over just an Internet forum thread. Obviously you have something to hide. A normal person of the opposite sex would mostly skip over a TRT thread as being "boring." I know I would not even bother to read a female version of hormone replacement therapy. Talk about a boring subject.
Here is hope for you that you are able to come to grips with reading Internet forum threads without taking them TOO AWFUL SERIOUSLY that it affects you in the way it has.
Good luck.

Thank you so much for your heartfelt good wishes. In return, my hope for you is that you can "come to grips" with the fact that just because someone offers you a more expansive feeling vocabulary beyond the word "aggressive", it doesn't mean they are stupid, hypersensitive, and hate men.
Now that we've made up and are best buddies, I am going to send you a thesaurus for your birthday. May your adam's apple (and your mind) grow this upcoming year and for the rest of your life! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Nothing wrong with the word "aggressive." I used it with the current Internal medicine doctor who prescribed the Androgel and he understood what I meant and was not offended by my use of the word as you are offended by it. I would suggest you realize that the term "aggressive" is not a bad thing and without it, men are just wussies. You sound like a politically correct, hypersensitive narrow minded pissmire.

Oh, you have met your goal of being "aggressive", alright. Too bad you'll never be a real man no matter how much testosterone you take until you learn that being "aggressive" is not something to strive for, and men who aren't aggressive aren't "wussies".
