I am a week post-op now. I am still in plenty of pain. Went and saw my ENT today and he said everything is going good with my recovery so far. I am able to wear my CPAP when sleeping. My pressures before surgery were 17-20, now I have it set on 6-12 and logs are showing median pressure is running about 7.9. That is a HUGE difference!!!

Another nice side effect of the surgery has been the weight loss. In one week, I am down 26lbs already! Doc said to expect about another week before I can go back to solid foods. Can't wait to see how much I lose, then work to keep it off.

I made a couple of labels with a Dymo label machine that said "no cutting below the neck". I stuck one on my forehead and another a little lower.

I haven't had any of those surgeries, but I'll bet I need my tonsils out. They are also HUGE. From what I've read, drink and drink and drink, especially when you start scabbing from the tonsillectomy. Supposedly, that helps a lot. All the best to you!

I KNEW I was about to die! I'm not afraid of clowns, but nuns scare the yellow water out of me.

I'm in the same boat -- my ENT got me on the CPAP path due to my large tonsils, turbinates and deviated septum (first step before going down a surgical route). I read in this thread that most folks post-op still need their CPAP, curious what the probability is that a patient will no longer require cpap after an obstructive surgery -- 50 / 50?

Having the Septoplasty and Turb Resection on 11/21. Figure doing it before Thanksgiving will give me a bit more time to recover. Interesting to read the posts. ENT had the scope up my nose looking around before I knew what was happening. Thanks for all who share their experience. I will return the favor!

Just wondering how you're doing after surgery? I am about 2 1/2 weeks post surgery from a tonsillectomy and UPPP. I agree the weight loss has been beneficial. I have lost about 23 lbs so far. My CPAP pressures are running around 6-7 where before they were anywhere from 9-11 however I haven't been able to keep it on for a full 4 hours yet as it irritates my soft palate. I see my ENT on Friday for post op follow-up so can't wait to see what she says. The only thing I have found that really causes problems right now is sneezing and boy does that hurt. Hope things have gone well with you to date.
