This is a VPAP S....so straight bilevel pressure. They won't vary. There is no auto adjusting mode with this machine.

Error. One of SleepyHead's bugs.

Pugsy, have you removed your remark about DeltaDave as a master cook?
To new posters:
Delta Dave is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologistâ„¢ (RPSGT) and a manager (owner?) of a Sleep Study Clinic. He is the only credentialed expert (maven) on this board (besides some Guests). He has been posting on this board for some 20 years under dozens of screen names. He is probably bored in his job at nights and helps us and several other sleep apnea websites. He is hard to get and likes to be difficult.
Dave has been with good relations with the previous queen of this board named Rested Gal. Dave invited her to visit several sleep study clinics where she became knowledgeable about the procedures there. Thanks to this, in the past, she helped thousands of newcomers here, including myself.

I'm at work right now. I stopped by my Sleep Docs office with copies of the Resmed software report and the DME's report. They couldn't read my card and thought I had contaminated it with SleepyHead (which they have never heard of..). He looked at my numbers, and we talked about the 5 AM thing.....
He changed my prescription to another S9 that has backup rate on it. I'll get that changed Monday. Don't know what the rate is going to be.

Tom, please don't show this post to Pugsy. She might commit suicide when hearing that your Sleep Docs Office said that SleepyHead has CONTAMINATED your machine. It's the funniest story on this boring board that I have read recently.
But seriously, if you have complex sleep apnea syndrome then you need an ASV machine and not this VPAP.

And we may get there eventually. But I've only been on the machine for 35 days or so, and doc thinks that the centrals will go away.

There have been some reports that Macs may write something on the SD card just because you put it into the machine. You don't even have to start SleepyHead, it's the Mac OS itself that does it. This has been reported to cause S9 machines to no longer accept that SD card unless you reformat it.
I don't think it will affect ResScan, but the S9 machine will want to reformat the card. i.e. the doctor should be able to read the card even if a Mac messed with it.
Even if you do screw up the SD card, the S9 machine should still have most of the data, just not the airflow(?) data.
Just to be safe, put the write protect tab to lock before feeding an S9 SD card to your Mac. Be sure to unlock it before putting it in your CPAP.
See if YOUR resscan will read it.
I wonder if your doc simply has an old virgin of ResScan and it doesn't understand your late model CPAP.

I did not remove anything. Been gone all day until just now. Don't know what happened to it. It isn't even available when I do the "reply to" thing like they are if they were spam removed.
There is another one missing also. Not mine but someone elses.
Someone has been removing stuff.

That's a big load of BS. SleepyHead does absolutely nothing to the SD card or the data files. If they couldn't get it to work it was their fault. Wanna bet that Tom can use ResScan right now? Typical DME crap...they can't do their job and blame something they don't know anything about. I think Archangle has it correct. Most likely they have an older version of ResScan and no they won't work with the S9 machines.

Probably going to be the S9 VPAP Adapt. That is a type of ASV machine used for people with complex sleep apnea.
You should do well with it. It may take a bit of getting used to because it can be a bit aggressive with that back up rate and giving you the jump start to breathe when those centrals kick in.

Well, no wonder they aren't here. I hadn't made my way over to that thread yet.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Me neither.
However, you asked all the right questions and perhaps the new data will shed some light.
One thing, clear airway identification technology is not fail-safe. Centrals can be misidentified as obstructive (but "IMHO" not the other way around) so that "obstructive" salvo up there could be central as well.
Since REM tends to be immune to centrals (other than the aforementioned Tonic REM Centrals) that may not be the answer.
Given the time location, one might think Sleep-Wake Instability, but that's a chain (central begats central) so ASV is a real thought here.
Correct, time can fix CompSAS, but I think that's usually about a month, so we're at the edge here.

Thanks DD. I appreciate your thoughts. I was really scratching my head on this one. It didn't really look like awake/semi awake junk to me and I would have thought with that much stuff going on if we were to blame it on junk he would have remembered being awake for at least some of the time.
Sounds like he will be getting the ASV machine first of next week so it will be real interesting to see what happens.

Another thought would be to microanalyze the entire night's flowrate. Those areas above were selected because they have event salvos, but perhaps much of the night was spent waxing and waning without actually progressing to frank apnea.
Something like this, where events are not generally scored, but breathing instability is apparent:

Dave, I'd be more than happy to shoot you a couple days worth of data if you wanted to peek at it. In reference to an earlier comment, I am PC not Mac.
As far as the new machine Monday, I don't think it's going to be an ASV. Doc has made a point several times about the hoops he has to go to get an ASV authorized. It appears there is an S9 version that has backup rate that is not an ASV.

I bet that's what I'm getting. What I'm going to lose on this one is the capability to go 'Auto'. I'm not on Auto, I'm on fixed 16/12, but they thought of trying auto was intriguing.

Reply,
I suspect that Delta Dave himself is removing those posts. Is it possible that he is a secret moderator on this board?
May be Johnny and Caroline allowed him to browse and delete posts as he sees fit, for a return to his posting here.
Also, if you look closely at his recent Avatar, doesn't it looks like Delta Dave camouflaged himself as a Native North or South American?
You just need to wipe off the false eyebrows, pull off the added 2nd moustache, and also remove the mouth appliance that pushes the mandible forward.
