Stop picking on her and judging how she expressed herself. That's the last thing that she needs! Offer help, if you can.
Hawthorne, thanks for trying to get the thread back on track and thanks to Bill too, for backing Hawthorne up.

Yes, I'm blaming you.

The only reason I clicked on the thread in the first place was that I saw you had posted in it.

I'm glad 2 Bros is safe. I mean, if anything ever happened to them, I'd probably end up living a lot longer.

Well then, perhaps we should do something constructive.

What do you think about this?

i have to add, we met in 1999 on a chat site called ICQ. we lived 100 miles apart in florida. since we met 13 years ago we haven't been apart longer than 12 hours in a row except for the month she had to go babysit her dad.
greatunclebill - I met my DH online in 1998 on a chat site called TheGlobe, then eventually went to ICQ. I was in Australia, he was in balmy Wisconsin - one day we might have duelling XPAPs LOL.

I agree with kaisasgram - what a nice story and ufortunately a far cry from what our poor OP is dealing with.

Cheers,

Squigglies?

You post squigglies in a rant thread?

I think I hate squigglies 'cause they make my head hurt, and I think that you have to go to sleep-dude school or breathing-dude school to be able to read them worth a darn, and I ain't done neither.

Other than that, my personal take is that it sure woulda been nice to see more supine REM if that's gonna be the actual titration.

Are you about to teach us somethin', or entertain us, or both? I consider them equally "constructive."

icq was a non-camera chat service where you could chat with your friends. you filled out a profile where you could put as little or much personal info as you wanted to share. you could use the search page and search for any number of keywords in profile info. in our case, she searched for military and florida. there were only 2 people that had florida and military in their profile. i won. she messaged me, i messaged back, i relocated to her location a couple weeks later and the rest is history.

I had a chat board on ICQ back in the day. It was called Xtreme Chat. I formed it with a couple of friends, and it was a very popular board for a few years. We were constanting modding the board and creating bots. It was fun stuff. I could fill a book with all of the coding I learned that is now obsolete. Also, I often wonder what happened to many of my friends who I knew only through ICQ. Some of us were very close, yet we had never met or seen each other face to face. It was a fun time.

You're right though, Bill; ICQ was a place where a lot of people hooked up long before Match.com and other online dating sites came about. I know several couples who met on ICQ. What was so good about it was that you could interact with people on a personable level without some of the baggage that comes with meeting someone face to face. In other words, you could get to know someone much more quickly than you would otherwise be able to do in person. The flexibility of time and convenience made it an ideal chat medium for many people.

My wife and I also met online, but not on ICQ. She was the one who found me. Lucky girl!
