I agree with kaisasgram - what a nice story and ufortunately a far cry from what our poor OP is dealing with.

icq was a non-camera chat service where you could chat with your friends. you filled out a profile where you could put as little or much personal info as you wanted to share. you could use the search page and search for any number of keywords in profile info. in our case, she searched for military and florida. there were only 2 people that had florida and military in their profile. i won. she messaged me, i messaged back, i relocated to her location a couple weeks later and the rest is history.kaiasgram wrote:OK, guys, tell me about ICQ...
I had a chat board on ICQ back in the day. It was called Xtreme Chat. I formed it with a couple of friends, and it was a very popular board for a few years. We were constanting modding the board and creating bots. It was fun stuff. I could fill a book with all of the coding I learned that is now obsolete. Also, I often wonder what happened to many of my friends who I knew only through ICQ. Some of us were very close, yet we had never met or seen each other face to face.
