From our host's description of the PR DS460 CPAP:
And CPAP-Check seems to be a poor-man's "APAP": The machine will monitor your breathing for thirty minutes and at the end of that 30 minutes, it will decide whether to increase (or decrease) the pressure by 1cm. So while the machine will increase the pressure, it's not going to increase it directly in response to clusters of OAs and Hs, snoring, RERAs, or FLs. But presumably if you have enough of those things in the last 30 minutes, it will up the pressure by 1cm. As long as its not reached that "max 3cm increase" cap. I wonder how it decides it's ok to lower the pressure?
And I can see how CPAP-check could be useful for folks who don't tolerate the constant changes of pressure in APAPs, but who would like the machine to be able to provide a bit more pressure on their "bad" nights.
Clearly turning on either Auto0trial or CPAP-Check would be done from the clinical menu.
From another on-line DME we get this description:The smart technology of Auto-Trial Mode and CPAP-Check Mode offer up to 30 nights of auto adjusting capability. During that period of use the system functions as an Auto CPAP delivering an adaptive pressure on a breath by breath basis. Following the set time of the Auto-Trial mode, the machine functions as a CPAP delivering the pressure that the patient was at or below 90% of the time. The CPAP-Check mode continuously verifies pressure requirements and makes adjustments after every 30 hours of use providing the user with more effective pressure levels over time. An Auto-Trial mode must be a minimum of 3 nights in length and the entire available 30 nights of Auto-Trial do not need to be used continuously. Visit the "Important Tips" tab of this product page to read an example of the Auto-Trial and CPAP-Check modes.
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT an Auto CPAP Machine. It functions as an Auto CPAP during Auto-Trial Mode and switches to CPAP mode during CPAP-Check mode.
Seems like all the Series 60 Pros are AutoIQ machines now and have a capability of running as an APAP for a total of 30 nights during theliftime of the machine.SMART TECHNOLOGY MODES
The REMstar PRO 460 offers three operational modes -- Auto-Trial, CPAP-Check, and straight CPAP -- to help optimize your sleep therapy settings.
- Auto-Trial Mode (Close) delivers breath-by-breath Auto-CPAP therapy for up to a total of 30-days. At the end of the Auto-Trial period, the device will automatically transition into the CPAP-Check mode at the pressure the patient was at or below 90% of the trial period time. (Note that Auto-Trial mode is for temporary use only and must be used for a minimum of 3 nights to be effective. The REMstar PRO is NOT an Auto-CPAP Machine.)
- CPAP-Check Mode (Close) checks on the user every 30-hours to determine if therapy pressure is optimal. If not, it automatically adjusts the nightly fixed CPAP pressure by 1 cm H2O (with maximum upper and lower limits of 3 cm) to obtain an ideal pressure.
- Straight CPAP Mode (Close) is for use when therapy with no changes or checks is preferred. In straight CPAP mode the REMstar PRO will not make pressure checks or adjust therapy levels although normal therapy data will still be tracked.
