Good monday morning.
Still had a problem with the humidity/dry nose last night. I turned the humidity up, and it helped for awhile. Then I turned the CPAP totally off, and waited a little while before I turned it on again and that helped too. It will be interesting what the DME says during my visit tomorrow.

You mentioned that it is cool where you live, is it cool enough to require your home heater to run at night? - I use an older system one machine and need a humidifier setting of three in the summer and four in the winter not not get dried out. What setting are you using?

I had the same problem with with PR's crappy 'climate control' humidity settings... not nearly enough humidity to make my nose happy. On the PR S1 550 (the predecessor of which I speak) it was possible to use the 'old' Remstar series M classic heat settings, which crank out quite a bit of moisture, which I like. I don't know if the newer series 60 or whatever has that retro feature but it's worth a try. It's a bit complicated, however search this site for "PR+classic+heat". Let us know if it works.

Here's ya go, it's sorta hard to find
Pugsy...very well said. The Syst 1 has the classic and the new humidification modes and they CAN make a difference. Give that a try and let us know if it works. If you need to access the humidification mode here are the steps:
1. On the main screen you will see 4 menus/windows they are Therapy, C-Flex, Setup and Info
2. Using the "on/off" dial scroll to the "setup" menu (it will be highlighted in black) and press the "on/off" dial to Enter that menu
3. You will see many options and most default options are fine but find the one that says System One Humidification...I think its the 2nd option
4. You will see that it says "On"
5. Again, using the "on/off" dial scroll and highlight this option, press the "on/off" button to highlight and change the "on" to "off"
6. Scroll to "Back" and it should take you back to the main menu or simply wait a few seconds and the system will default to "therapy" on its on.
Also, in dealing with patients that face the "dry-mouth" issue...some can be caused by medications or by lack of adequate hydration. Try those things since they tend to be "easy/quick" fixes.
