I looked at the picture and I don't think there's any way I can tolerate something that big. :'( She said insurance wouldn't cover the Bella Swift FX because it is a "premium" mask.
I second the "I think she's lying through her teeth" business.
For what it's worth, you could always see if they would give you the ResMed Swift FX (the "regular" version), and just buy the Bella Loops online. At cpap.com, they're $25 (
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... loops.html) and they work with the pieces of the regular Swift FX. Just another option! I really think you'd like this set-up a million times better than regular headgear! I suspect things aren't going to get BETTER for you with more coverage.

DME person is full of it. I got mine from the DME and so did most people here. At the very least she could get the Swift FX for Her and as Napster said, buy the Bella Loops on line for around $25.00. Don't let her push you around. She obviously will if she thinks she can.

Thank you for the advice! She had said even if it weren't a "premium mask" that it probably wouldn't work for me anyway because it uses the same nasal pillows my Opus 360 has. There is too much space between the two prongs and it keeps popping off my nose unless I lay motionless or strap it to my face really hard.
Now... about those photos to those of you that haven't done it yet... *taps foot* BWACK BWACK!!!

This is just a lie. The 360 has differently shaped pillows than the Swift FX. I'm liking this home healthcare chick less and less.
Also, when the prongs are too far apart, sometimes people tie a little string around the stems (I used dental floss, hahaha!), and that both stabilizes them and brings them closer together. Might be worth a try in the meantime!
If she says you can't use nasal pillows because the 360 didn't work for you, she is trying to BS you. Not okay. The Bellas may or may not work for you, but you won't know until you try it. And the Pilairo (which I use) is even better for people with further apart nostrils. There are a lot of options before you get to a nasal mask. She just has to stop lying to you and let you try them.

Yeah, it's starting to sound like she doesn't want to take the time with me. I guess doctors get kick backs from drug manufacturers, maybe this isn't much different. Eh, at least I have more information to arm myself with in the morning. If she is a pain, I'll see who else my insurance covers. Thanks again for the help gang! xoxo

O_O First time hearing of an accelerometer too. Something else to Google. Thanks for playing! Another good sport I see! YAY!! Does your mask make you feel confined with 4 points on it? I feel panicky just thinking of myself in one like that!!
While you are googling be sure to check out CMS50x x being H or I or F or E or D+. Many of us also monitor our overnight O2 levels with
recording Pulse/Oximeters.

AbbyNormal wrote:Oh my. Poppi, HOW can you sleep with all of that on?? Is that TWO chin straps?? ..
No, just one chin strap, i.e., the PapCap. The white over my lips is tape. The white at my temple is the edge of a folded handkerchief. I use those to smooth out the washboard effect from the wrinkled velcro.
I do require everything on my head. Last night, the chin strap moved in front of my chin, and I woke with chipmunk cheeks and leaks due to tape blowout. Last month, I decided it was time to check if I still needed the tape, i.e., check for educated tongue. No joy.

I guess I am a good example of someone who knows the value of CPAP and is willing to undertake extreme measures for effective therapy. Plus, after 44 years, my long suffering wife enjoys our snore-free bedroom.
Except for the hose emanating from my nose, it looks like I have an appointment with "Old Sparky" at the state pen. Earl

Geek and Poppi, I have a new mask to wear tonight. Meh. Guess I'll have to update my picture. You should see the nightmarish chinstrap they gave me too. Yeesh. The girl feels a sob coming on. My new chin strap thingie looks like the bottom part of your PapCap, Poppi. Medical tape blisters my skin. I'm glad I don't have to do that.
I'll check out the Zeo more when I get a better handle on the claustrophobia I have with my gear. You guys really are great sports and seeing your masks shows me other things I haven't thought about or been told about. Seriously, I thank all of you for posting pictures! If I can't show my gear laden melon to others that wear it too, doing it with the boyfriend will never happen. xoxo, Angela

She stuck me in a Philips GoLife for Men (she's out of the women's) with a petite nasal pillow. The chinstrap is a Philips Respironics Premium Chin Strap. I'm not sure I'm brave enough for a picture in this one. *sigh* I'll think about it tonight when I crawl into bed though. This whole thing is starting to harsh my happy.
