Windows 8 has a real problem with the installer. I don't think any of the programs will install on Windows 8. Several of the folks on the board have been able to install Encore Basic on a windows 7 machine and then copy it into their Windows 8 computer and it ran fine. If you want to try it I have it on my Windows 7 I can copy it or if you have a Windows 7 computer I can send you the link to the Encore Basic Installer.

One other quick question. Is Encore Basic the same as Encore Viewer? I am trying to get viewer for my dad. He is afraid he'll accidentally erase the sd card, and I saw with viewer it doesn't let you alter the data on the sd card. Would Encore Viewer be the best for him, or is there something better?

Pretty much the same reports. I don't think the new Viewer does wave form graphs (the prior version didn't and I haven't seen the new version) but other than that the reports will be identical.
Regarding erasing the SD card. Yes there is an option for that selection prior to the download process. One has to put a check mark in the little box for "erase the card" for the erase to happen. In other words it isn't something that is going to happen unless you specifically tell the software that is what you want it to do.
Encore Basic and Encore Pro both offer the option to erase the SD card.
Viewer doesn't.
Even if the SD card got erased by mistake the machine stores pretty much all the important data on its internal memory and will put it right back on the SD card should it happen to be blank for some reason. Wave form graphs are not saved on the machine though...so those are lost.
SleepyHead will work with the PR S 1 machines and there isn't anyway to accidentally erase the SD card within SH software.
There's really minimal chance that your father would accidentally erase the SD card and even if he did it isn't the end of the world. All the data that the DME will care about is stored on the xpap machine anyway.

I can't send anything to you because I don't know where to send it....Unless you register here at the forum there is no private message function.
Also..since computers now have Windows 8 ...what operating system is on your computer...and which machine are you using?
They don't all work with Encore Basic.
