God Bless, and thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, they did catch one of the four involved in this shooting late last night, and it happens to be the ring leader that shot my son-in-law. This animal they caught was stupid enough to fire his gun at the police officers (thank God he missed), now the Feds have charges against him as well. There was an incident this afternoon where the police had to use some type of explosive to open a barricaded warehouse door to apprehend a suspect, and it is believed he is one of the shooters as well.
My son-in-law is still in critical condition, but he has some movement on his right side and they are putting in a treach in hopes of taking out his breathing tube. The Neuro Docs. are having to keep him in a less sedated state in order to begin to see if he can respond to basic questions. Today they asked him if he is in pain and he responded with one finger for no, they asked him if he knew where he was, again he responded with their "no" signal of one finger. Tomorrow will be a hard day for him as they need to use less sedation, which if all goes well, will make him somewhat restless as they will have to keep him in restraints. They will also begin to tell him where he is and what happened to him.
I know that the power of prayer is what is getting him and us through this, so again I thank you and ask you to continue to pray for us.
Ellen

Our hearts and prayers go out to you and Family. I was born without a left frontal lobe. Other parts of the brain just took over it's job. MIR for something else detected this 8 years ago. Praying that your son-in-law's brain is able to do that too!

Thank you everyone for your continued prayers, today they are having to up the sedation to keep my son-in-law from being restless, if not they have to keep his legs restrained as well as his arms. He is a strong guy and they had to put a chest restraint on him as well. They told us this is not unusual for patients with this type of injury, but his restlessness is causing his BP to get dangerously high.
Thank you all for your blessings and prayers!

Hopes and prayers sent in your direction. Here is hoping for the best! From experience, I can say that a supportive family is a huge benefit. From what I've seen, the hospital staff will "kick it up a notch" if they see a very supportive family.
