Almost 36 inches from connector to finger clip to connector. The whole assembly is so small that I just lay the phone-cable assembly in bed along side me rather than trying to leave the phone on the nightstand. If I roll over the assembly it doesn't seem to wake me or bother recordings. I use a single layer of tape around my finger over the cable near the clip to assure the clip doesn't come off. BTW, I used my pointer finger the first time and it was REALLY uncomfortable. After reading the instructions (why bother with instructions?) I used the recommended ring finger and it was just fine.

The connector is the older 30 pin used on iphones and Ipads until the latest units. I called the vendor about a cable that works on the iphone 5 or the newest iPad (the mini connector) and found there is currently no such device, although he "heard" that the 30 pin-to-new-adaptors worked. I used my old iPhone 4 (30 pin connector) and so haven't checked the adaptor. I believe the unit won't work with the oldest iPads or iPhones, so be sure to check if that is a possibility.

Is this still an active discussion? I have a whole different approach. I just bought the Masimo iSpO2 oximeter that plugs directly into an iPhone or iPad. It runs on iPhone/iPad power and records oxygen saturation and pulse rate every second. The free software (an app) automatically creates an email attachment that I send to myself and open in Excel (Mac version, of course ). Biggest problem is a full night of data is immense, so I have to reduce it by two thirds. The data has been very useful: I've discovered that with my oral appliance I still get a few apneas down to 86 or 90 percent, whereas with my CPAP the number never gets below 93 percent. The price of the oximeter is around $270 from Amazon, but I'm still glad I got it.

where you can download drivers for Win, Mac and Linux. I think daniel0815 managed to install it and then used SleepyHead to get the data (just like with Win version). I have not tried this, so I do not know how difficult it is. I have two macs (at home and at work) but I run Win on both via boot camp, I've never used OSX (too many problems, just like the one we are discussing here - not many devices have non-Win drivers).
In fact, several people managed to get CMS oximetry on Linux, see java version here here

But I guess these are not fully functional programs.

What you need is a driver for its modified usb cable, not for the oximeter itself. After you install it, you can use any program to read the data (sleepyhead), you do not need their "SpO2 review",which is only windows.

You can often find Parallels Desktop on sale for $50; and
If you still have the Windows install disk, typically XP, that came with an old, non-working or trashed computer, Microsoft will transfer the license free of charge for you to use on your virtual machine within Parallels on your Mac, provided you are incapable of ever using the old PC thereafter; they will retire the old license number and give you a new license number to enter during the install process. It's all on the up-and-up as long as you give them all the facts, and stick to your word.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but..

Is there really an OSX driver for the cms-50 series?

I'm not sure I'd want to go through the trouble of running the windows version of Sleepyhead in a Parallels VM.. But if it would work natively in OSX I'd sure consider a CMS-50F or the MD300W11..

INSTALL - then restart and then have fun.
worked perfectly with my CMS-50..... OXIMETER

I don't know that Windows XP or Windows Vista are available anymore. That leaves Windows 7. Microsoft doesn't make it easy, offering many different versions of Windows 7. Windows 7 Home Premium seems to be the most common version available. That is what I am running.

My main issue with the pulse oximeter is that I thought I had a CMS-50E. It turned out they shipped me a CMS-50EW, which can do Bluetooth wireless, which can be a plus in certain settings but didn't really help me. The instructions to start downloading data to the computer were just -slightly- different from the regular CMS-50E. Once I figured that out, it works fine. The user interface on the CMS software is not very good. Once you run through it once or twice you remember which buttons to click, so it is not a long term problem.

I'd be happy to help here in the forum or via PM if you have questions.

I'm not sure where this ended up for the Original Poster, but I thought I'd chime in to say that I've had very good success using VMware Fusion on my Mac to run Windows 7, where I run the software that shipped with my CMS-50EW pulse oximeter. I had some issues getting the CMS-50EW going due to poor documentation on the CMS-50EW, but once I got past that hurdle, thanks to folks here, it has been working fine. Yours is way newer then mine. Yea you can do it. Look in your Utilities folder (inside the Applications folder) for Bootcamp. If you didn't install it, it will be on one of the system dvd discs. Make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive. Of course you'll have to invest in windows.

StateRoad84, it looks like my Mac could handle what yours can, it's 3.6Mhz, 4G, and I'm running 10.6.8, and the one thing I'm not sure about is you mentioned Intel Core 2 Duo. My "About this mac" says Intel Core i5. Can you translate and/or tell me if this will work?
