Thanks rooster, I will try a neti pot.. as those sprays are VERY expensive and it just rolls down out of my nose..
Just the nasonax is a hundred bucks these days.

I started reading this thread trying to find out why I suddenly have nasal congestion on switching my therapy from S9 AutoSet II (used without humidification even though I have one) and the ResMed Adapt SV, also without humidification even though I have the humidifier. Suddenly with the Adapt SV I was waking up with a stuffy nose as well as a poor response to the SV therapy, even though this should be the best machine for my Cheyne-Stokes Respiration.

It seems that there is a phenomena called rebound congestion that happens due to the nasal drying effects of increased airflow. So for me the airflow isn't enough with the S9 to cause the rebound congestion, but it is enough with the Adapt SV. And it appears that the congestion has had enough impact that my therapy has not been good so far with the SV.

For some reason, the Neti pot seems to cause me more nasal congestion. I do use distilled water and only use salt that is for nasal irrigation. It often results in burning and my sinuses running for several hours, causing a lot of extra congestion.

I always feel great after using the Neil Med Squeeze bottle for 30 minutes. Then I feel just as congested and dry as I did before. It doesn't seem to matter what ingredients are in the solution as I have tried all sorts of combinations.

In such cases I take a Claritin tablet before sleep, in addition to a 10 mg tablet of Zolpidem, and if it does not open up the nostrils I then skip the CPAP for the night.

usually burning means too much, or too little salt.

To help thin the mucus, always drink enough water.

My doctor told me to stop using the neti pot. I was feeling congested and it turns out that the water was pooling - partially because of past sinus surgeries.

Anyways, I started using the combination of Waterpik pumps and Ethicare irrigation instruments. Seems to be working thus far.
