While I don't have any experience apply the mentioned to my lips or nares, I would think it would make things way too slippery
Which is why I like the Lansinoh. It is tacky yet reduces the friction and softens the skin. But to each his own and that's fine with me.

Oh Rosie, that's funny! Personally, I don't mind the smell. I used to hand process the fleece for spinning so am very familiar with the scent but can totally understand that others could find it very offensive. I've always liked barnyard smells. Guess I'm just an odd duck.

FYI - when it was suggested to me for my nose bleed, I went to CVS pharmacy, and bought the store brand, which is just called 'lanolin cream". It's 100% medical grade "modified" lanolin, which usually means homogenized in some manner. So I'm sure most of the chain drug stores have their own version.

Hmm, There's a new CVS just kitty corner from the nearest Walgreens.
Maybe I'll take a look.

Rosacer, I thought the Now has a medicinal iodine-like odor unlike the 8-month old tube of Lansinoh. Since I ordered more Lansinoh, I'll update you on the newer product.

Maybe cocoa butter?
At least they don't kill the sheep to get the lanolin, but there are people who will reject it anyway.

At least I think the lanolin comes from wool projection.

Now I have good news I have been using the new Lansinoh, the one which is less thick. I discovered if I use a really small amount it works well enough. WOW I'm so relieved, I won't need to use the pure lanoline from pharmacy with it's NATURAL perfume

I agree. I used to spin in the raw and I love the smell. I can't do that anymore since I have become extremely allergic to wool - spinning makes my eyes and nose run. If I was going to do aroma therapy with my cpap I think hot barley and sheepy lanolin would be perfect.

Add sweet horse breath to the list and we could be twins. Not when they're colicky though.
