I sincerely appreciate everyone's advice however since I have an S9 w/ humidifier I will just bring that along on future travels. Being a mouth breather, I can't go with just a nasal solution so Transcend's HME isn't an option. I was hoping to get away with the portability of the Transcend. Stupid me, I should have just tried running my S9 with the humidifer before I bought this, but oh well, live and learn, right?

Since returning it isn't allowed, I will post a new message in case anyone wants to buy it. It was only used for about 7 hours.

Some people do very well with minimal to none added moisture. Perhaps they live in an area where the air is less humid and their bodies are accustomed to dryness.
I think a lot of it is personal too. I live in the same house as my mom, so clearly the same weather and humidity. Yet she hasn't used her humidifier in years even though her machine has one. I got my machine and immediately had to increase my humidification as I get dry mouth without it. (and sometimes even with it). We both use the same mask, so the difference is not due to the the mask. My allergies are worse than hers. My throat and nasal passages are smaller than hers. And I am less hydrated than her. So, those are most likely the real reasons for the big difference.

I have the Resmed S9, and I have only traveled once with it so far, but it went well for me. I don't travel light as I go to cat shows as a vendor and exhibitor. That means a van load of vendor stuff (products for sale and canopy, lighting, etc for photography). And then I have the hotel stuff clothing, supplies, my laptop, my pillow, and my heavy BLANKET. I don't sleep well in hotels, and I get cold easily. I also bring an electric cooler. And that doesn't even include the cats - 2 cat with carriers, a crate with their supplies, and a pop-up tent. My apap machine and distilled water are nothing compared to all that.

I'm a newbie and just looking forward to night #5 on my CPAP. I have learned that I need to have my humidifier set to 5 on a scale of 1-5, the highest setting, or I wake up with a dry throat. I can't tolerate a 3 setting. But set on 5, I wake up at 3 am with a dry throat because my humidifier has run out of water. Tonight I'll try 4 and see if I can make it through the night. There's something very disruptive about having to get up in the wee hours to fill up your humidifier then try to get back to sleep again.I can't imagine using a machine without a humidifier, but I live in Nevada and it's dry, dry, dry here.

Are you able to adjust the temperature? If so, that might help your water last longer.

The new 60 series machines do offer temperature adjusting but I bet she has the model that doesn't allow for any adjustment for temps.
The new 60 series machines have a heated hose like the Climateline.

I have used the Respironics PR S1 machines and even in the water saving new humidification mode...if someone likes a lot of moisture added and lives in area where the relative humidity is dry...it is going to use water like crazy.
Where I live isn't dry at all and when I used the PR S1 machine (not a 60 series) at my preferred higher settings I would pretty much use all the water each night.

A stand alone humidifier like the F & P 150 might be a solution for someone in this situation.
Of course wouldn't want to buy one till machines are sorted out.

You know...Cheryl...I don't think that Respironics makes the brick Plus in a 60 series machine..yet...not sure but I haven't seen it offered. If you squawk loud enough about the moisture and needing more and running out of water in the middle of the night...and push for a 60 series machine with more adjustability....that might be a way to get a full data machine.
Last I saw only the full data Pro (straight cpap) and the full data APAP were being offered in the 60 series model line.
