Went to the Dr Today

Post by insylem » Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:32 am

Hey, I went to the Dr today,
They took me data card, and said that they would mail it back to me because they didn't have anything they could read it with. I'm thinking to myself WTF? Its not hard to obtain card readers or the software for it. Since I have it, youd think a sleep clinic would, but whatever, if Id have known that, I could have just printed out my charts, or put the .PDFs onto a USB thumb drive for them. I texted my friends sister who used to work there and she said she ddnt know much about the cards/data so I guess they dont use them there for some reason. But then not sure why they wanted to check mine, but oh well. Haha

They bumped me up from 8cm to 10cm So hopefully that will help.

Also some one sugested I cut out cafeen after noon. That helped alot thanks (can't rememeber who suggested that though)

In 2 months im eligable for a new mask, so I told them id like a smaller one, cause mine is bumping my pillow and makeing it leak.

Thanks for all the support/help/insight.
-Jonathan

that is odd they don't have a reader.

but on a more serious note, how in the world are you able to cut out caffeine after noon? I can't go more than a few hours without my soda

I also find it odd that they did not have a reader since patient data is their business. Why did the doc change your pressure without being able to see your data? (On my last visit I sent the RT my data before I went to the office and he had it printed out and went over it with me. I did use the ResMed software.)

When I started Cpap my caffeen intake went down. Normally I would drink Cafeen at work, so I just switched it out with gatoraid and water. Wilpower had to d o with it as well..
Though on the weekends, I still drink cafeen since well, it's the weekend

They changed the pressure before looking at the data? oh...

Now I'm the kind of guy who has programs in punchcards around the house (which I can still scan) so I find the concept of not having a reader in the realm of "are you in a town far away from a city in a third world country" would look like a question but I've been in those locations and I could always find card readers... so your location in the universe where there are no card readers intrigues me.

I dont get that either, I have my own reader maybe next time ill just download the data myself and give it to them haha

I dont get about the pressure changes without reading the data but I guess tis alright. The Dr was prety open to paitents suggesting their own pressure to some degree.

Sleep clinics are not going to use Sleepyhead. They have to invest in "clinical software" and it's expensive. Unless they dictate what brand of machine their patients may have, it's prohibitive to invest in clinical software because you need every different brand's proprietary software.

More than likely, they needed to document your compliance, and they are going to send the card to the DME for that. Don't count on getting your own card back--if you're lucky you may get a wiped card that belonged to someone else, more than likely you won't get a card back. So your best bet is to go buy your own, and from now on, download data to take with you for followup appointments.

Don't be surprised if you get charged for the data download.

And why on earth did your doctor change the pressure without looking at data???

I think I would have volunteered to help the doc's office with their "problem." When I've been told that someone couldn't print something for me I tell them to let me see their printer as I can fix it for them. A lot of printers suddenly start working!

I think sometimes when they say stuff is 'broken' it really isnt they just are useing it as an excuse to not do whatever....

Anyways,
I seemed to sleep pretty good last night, 10 seems to work for me better then 8. Though its onjly been one night and I have no data card So I ordered one from online.
I feel alright. I only woke up once last night, and I think it was because the sun was shinin in my window. Since I work 2nd shift Im up later so I have to sleep later.
But ya, +2 cm - Cafeen after noon + cloth on the seal = Me Sleeping better Well see how it goes after a few nights since its only been 1 night that ive been back at ten.
Last time I was at 10, I hadnt figured out the cloth between the seal and my face to help with the drool trick, or the no cafeen after noon so I can sleep trick. Well see
how it goes the next few days
Thanks for those ideas!
