Is it battery operated or do you plug it in???

Snork1: Thank you for your feedback. I was specifically referring to the situation I had I the other site. I totally agree with you on spammers. I am a consumer as well and I certainly don’t want to be spammed when I’m looking for information, or actually any time. I value honesty over anything. I welcome thoughtful as well as constructive feedback. They say honesty hurts. I don’t think so. As I mentioned, we want to build the best devices that will make your life better. How can I do that if I don’t pay attention to you?

wading thru the muck!: I apologize for misunderstanding and thank you for your empathy. I think I was unnecessarily and unjustly attacked by a couple of people there. All that aside, I always welcome criticism. Actually, I want to hear the criticism as well as feedback and suggestions. Please don’t even try to pull your punches. We as CPAP users are the experts. Not the engineers who don’t even use the devices. Thank you for the good wishes of luck.

Hey Karen. You got a jump on me posting pictures.
The device is battery operated only. You plug it in for a while before you use it. A charge lasts 12 hours @ 10cm. It is a 8 cell small battery that can be fully charged after it is fully depleted in less than 4 hours. After a night’s use it takes a little over an hour to top it back off.

With being so close to the face/ears, you'd think this thing would need to be REALLY quiet. I remember I used to be able to hear my CPAP when it was on the floor, even with earplugs in. Anyone else follow my concern?

Yes! and it looks to be heavy to me... and does it vibrate. A heavy vibrating (noisy) sack sitting on my chest all night is not a way to get good sleep.

I also wonder if it will shift the interface if I were to roll to my side.

It does look like on could wear it just fine on the treadmill LOL! That can be boring, but I've never fallen asleep.

Tossin' anna turnin', rockin' and a rollin'? That's how I sleep, always have. I am a hard core side sleeper, I have never fallen deeply asleep on my back, not even during sleep studies (a big complaint with my last study). I do not see this permitting that sleep style.

It seems like a really great idea for plane travel but I can't see it working for me in other situations.

If the system were decoupled from the neck thingy I could see it as a good camping solution, basically the battery power apparently being so good but I'm not a camper, happy or not...

Great starting point but I'm not a likely buyer as it's configured.

I don't think as a side sleeper myself that I could be comfortable with this. But I am very interested in the nasal interface attached to it. That looks great, like it fits really well on the models. Tom, is that specific to this unit or do you manufacture the interface solo? I'd be interested in giving that a try if you do have that on its own.

Best of luck with your product. Karen has been keeping this a secret from me for months now and you should know that you put your trust in the right woman. She never breathed a word about it, although I tried to coax her at times...LOL. Hope you do well with your invention.

Two questions:


1.) Is there a longer hose that comes with it, in case we want to use the machine off of the neck and shoulders and to the side?
Hey, maybe if it does vibrate alot, we could move it to our belly and vibrate the fat away as we sleep!



2.) Unless I have it wrong, I understand this does not come with a humidifier. But can one be attached to it, if the device can be resting near by and not around the neck?

Tom, you had mentioned in a post on the other site that you all had been conducting trials with this for some time now. What did the toss'n turn side sleepers have to say about it? Got any pictures of it in use by people sleeping on their left side and their right side?

I think I also recall your writing that it can be used with other mfgr's masks. Right?

I am thinking with some sort of simple harness it MIGHT work for side sleepers. Sorta like a reverse Camelbak. (Hey, I JUST finished a rugged 8 mile hike with 3000 feet of climbing...backpacks are on my mind at the moment)

The interface looks VERY similar to a Swift, which is one of my favorite interfaces. Although I do need to trade off with another type. (Activa for me).
A different TYPE of interface option might be nice for those needed variation or who the Swift type doesn't work for.

I assume the cozy wrap on it is to take care of sound and comfort?

Knowing Karen as well as I do, and I do, I highly doubt she felt she was betraying any type of confidence Tom placed in her at this point by displaying the photos here. The invention was already out in the open when she did it, so there wasn't anything to keep hidden anymore. I'm sure if she felt there was any chance of reprisal or that he would be upset, she never would have done it. Plus, Tom didn't seem to be angry at all. Not only is she a very talented woman, but a very kind and caring one at that.

One thing to consider is that due to the ignorance of ASAA and it's posting policy, the people over there, even though they were the driving force in how this device should be designed, will not see the fruit of their effort, at least not at that site. They will have to either visit this site or hopefully be able to get a link to tommyboy's website. I for one am really glad that the unit was first posted here. Heck, there may even be a deal going on in the background whereby CPAP.COM becomes the end supplier for tommyboy's units What a win win situation that would be. Once again, by censoring information you end up only telling part of the entire story and unfortunately it adversely affects the people that you try to help. That is why CPAPTALK.COM is tops and rocks in my opinion.
