It isn't often that a study like this one actually makes sense and the regressions and stats are borne out...seems to me that a lack of oxygen and chronic sleep deprivation are going to keep a body under constant stress which is going to weaken the immune system and other things. Seems like OSA helps to create a good environment for cancers to take hold and do their evil little thing....
As an aside, I'm also wondering how many people with untreated OSA then eat too much sugar looking for energy and consequently have high insulin levels and high blood glucose levels. I've seen multiple studies confirming that high insulin/blood glucose levels also aid in tumor growth because tumors primarily feed on glucose.
Bottom line is that I think chronic sleep deprivation causes a whole host of issues, all of which are detrimental to the body. I'm SO glad I get to sleep with my machine and mask every night!
