Do we trust a really low AHI when our leaks are borderline higher than we want?
We aren't ever really told just what happens other than machine's reporting ability can be impaired.
I have used both Respironics and ResMed machines and I have experience large leaks for a duration long enough that I can see the impact on therapy and with both machines I had an increase in events show up...not zero events.
ResMed called some of the events unknowns..but it flagged them.

In the report below (where I had a really bad leaky night) at near 80 L/min (ResMed machine used) I got some unknowns and at 40 L/min pretty much nothing. I actually believe that I still had decent pressure therapy at that time or I feel I would have had more events get flagged since it flagged events at 80 L/min. This is my one and only time with this massive of a leak for any duration so I have nothing else to validate things.
So my thoughts are that while obviously 40 L/min is more than I want to see all the time...I don't think that things totally went to hell when I had that leak...now the near 80 leak..yeah..things went to hell but even then it wasn't like I spent the whole night there. I tend to think that the machine actually does a fairly decent job of scoring events up past that 40 L/min mark. Might not be perfect but if I was seeing less than 1 AHI and spent a bit of time higher than I wanted leak...I would tend to think that things were better than I though.
Again..I have no proof and this is why we say to keep the leaks at a minimum if we can just in case....

neverbetter,

I have re-read some of your past posts on other topics, and I have found you to be sincere and personable giving heartfelt advice on many, many sleep apnea topics, and not shilling for any product or any company.

So I am very puzzled by this accusation made by a first-time anonymous poster.

Regards, Nate

The person posing as NateS was a long time Innomed employee and worked in the engineering department. That is not his photo and he is paid to post here.

Sorry, I don't believe you! And, if that's actually true, who the hell cares!

Nate, … What were your average 95%-ile leaks using the FX and what were they with other masks?
Good question. To figure that out, I would need to find my Notes stored in SleepyHead.

Is there a way to search and/or export the NOTES in SleepyHead?

Thanks,

Nate

(As this is a question of general interest, not limited to Aloha users/experimenters, I am also posting it as a new topic, hoping to quickly find someone who knows. I was unable to find it in the commands/menus.)

Um, count me in on Nan's proposal. I could use the extra moola myself. Nate, I know you're not taking the 'actors' seriously. We all have more compelling health oriented stuff to talk about here. You got my vote, buddy!
