I use the deluxe chin strap ($12 at Amazon and 0 shipping) and pull the edge up over my mouth and adjust with the back strap. Works fine for me.

What is the difference between the Topaz and the Puresom? I have the Puresom and really like it because it pushes the bottom lip up toward the top and stops any leaks. However, when I first got it I wished it was a size larger. But after using it for a couple of weeks I have gotten used to it or it has stretched a bit. An adjustable version might be the answer.
Reply,
The Topaz has been discontinued, but still available at The CPAP Shop for $28.

You need to decide if you want the chinstrap OVER or UNDER the mask' straps. If I go to pee at night I need to undo both which is a nuisance with a CS OVER the mask's straps.

I've tried it with the strap on top and with the strap on the bottom. When I go to the bath room at night (which is very seldom) I shut the machine off and disconnect my hose, go to the bath room , come back hook up the hose, turn on the machine and go to sleep. I don't remove my mask or chin strap.

I simply take a 3' length of ace bandage and wrap it over my lips and around the back of the head...sticks to itself and keeps the mouth shut. No way would I pay that kind of money for a chin strap and still blow air out of my lips.

The Ultimate Chinstrap helps with the puffs of air out of the lips. The first one I had from them was a great material but a totally tiny size. When I got another one, they'd switched materials to something AWFUL that basically turned rapidly into a rag because the velcro would snag it like crazy. I don't know what they are using now. My recommendation is to contact them and give them your specific measurements and have them make one for your size head so you minimize the amount of contact the velcro overlaps with the fabric (although it won't totally solve the problem of the snags), and so it fits you well.

I tried it, found it to be unsatisfactory, and returned it. My money was refunded without hassle.

It's there. I saw it earlier when I went to check to confirm that they did offer the money back thing. I thought that they did.
It is 2 lines above the phone number on the main page and there is a big gold circle stating the same thing.

OK I see it, don't know how I missed that one.

If you or your wife are the least bit "crafty" why don't you try making one before you shell out the big bucks for it.

I do the motor lip thing too. Haven't found a chin strap that stops it because I don't open my jaw. Chip straps I've tried prevent opening jaw but don't do anything about "lip puffing" as I call it. I've tried taping with Blue Painter's Edge tape (comes off after 2 hours), medical clothing tape (just breathe through the cloth).
I was thinking of the perfect solution for lip puffing if it could be made. Remember as a kid how mom would cut up oranges "boat style" and we'd put the remainder peeling over our teeth inside lips to be goofy. Well, a silicone contraption that goes OVER the outside of the teeth and between lips and check would work perfect. Large enough to not be swallowed or dislodged but thin enough to be comfortable to the wearer. That's my idea of a solution to lip breathers.
Now somebody take my idea and become a millionaire.

I work for local government and would LOVE to put one of those on several of our elected officials!

I remember the scene in The Godfather when Marlon Brando's character was doing that to be goofy with his grandkids in the garden, and then dropped over dead. It was one of the memorable scenes in the movie because of the contrasts in his character's personality. Not saying the orange peel did him in!
It just sticks in my mind.
