I think what you use it for depends on your difficulties. I have had good results overall on the CPAP but SleepyHead has helped me to improve my sleep habits. I find my therapy doesn't work as well when I am extra tired. Some people find a correlation to prescription or over the counter drugs etc. If you can't monitor it day by day it is hard to find what works best for you.

Others use data to help tune their therapy, get to the point where their numbers are even below 5. Also be aware that machines also give you information on flow restrictions which are not calculated in the AHI and for some they are just as important as apneas and hypopneas.

I basically pop in my card first thing and review the data while the night is still fresh in my mind to see if I can see any patterns. As my numbers are generally <2 I don't have to keep a log but if your numbers are worse it might be good to go as far as printing your data an annotating clusters etc with what you believe may be the cause. An informed patient is always better than your Drs best guess.
