Dori, this is quite the roller-coaster ride! I am glad to hear that Mike is doing better today. How were your test results?

It looks like I can't convince anyone I'm really a wreck. All my blood tests were normal, EKG OK, exam routine, one problem that may be causing me to feel dizzy other than stress is that I'm dehydrated which makes sense, I'm not into my normal routine of drinking 8-10 glasses of water daily.

Well, if the dizziness is "near syncope"---not quite fainting, but close to fainting---I think that can be related to stress or anxiety. In that scenario it's supposedly a vasovagal response to the stress/anxiety. I hope you manage to get that good sleep you mentioned. If you're not already doing so, consider seeing a professional expert for tips on managing stress/anxiety.
I'm also happy Mike was better today!

It is good to hear that Mike is doing much better.
Now you need to sit down and drink a glass of water...

Dori, I've experienced only a tiny little portion of taking care of an ill husband who is in and out of the hospital. And it has absolutely exhausted me, and caused me to wind up with severe dehydration last December. I think the advice that ozij gave you is spot on. I'm thankful that Mike is safe tonight and hope that you do indeed sleep quite well.

Even though I do not post often, I lurk and read a lot. I am glad I dropped in today to find this sad thread. DoriC has always held a special place in my heart. Her patient answers when I was having such a hard time adjusting to c-pap meant a lot to me.
Dori, please know that you and Mike are in my thoughts and prayers.

DoriC, methinks those who doth protest that they know it all actually know nothing. The rehab people need to wake up and smell the coffee - and recognize that all that stuff they "know" could be making life difficult for some of their patients. I know that if I charge off and do something that I am sure I know how to do without checking the "manual" (usually the internet, but could be my wife!), I am going to get into trouble! Good sleep is so important for healing - both for you and for Mike. Make sure you take some water with you, because the hospital staff will be too busy looking after those who have been admitted to really care about you. Sad that the world has come to that, isn't it?

The bronchial infection I mentioned turned out to be pneumonia, Dr says "mild", so he's having breathing treatments, IV antibiotics but his followup xray today showed his lungs are clearing up a bit. He sat in a chair most of the day today and the RT did some walking with him but he tired easily. He's not remembering much and isn't talking much so I don't know where we stand yet as far as progress goes. I'm too exhausted to think too much right now but I've got some good contacts for homecare when the time comes. So far it's been a never-ending nightmare but I'm trying to take a little better care of myself and only stay 4hrs at the hospital. I rested at home this morning and got to the hospital around 2PM and left at 6PM after his dinner, better than the 8-10hrs I was doing. My son-in-law is coming tomorrow to see Mike and will stay overnight with me so that will help a lot. Thanks to all for your concern and kind words, it really means the world to me.

Dori,
Do, please, take care of yourself! When my mom was so very ill in 2009, my Dad "didn't want to bother me" and tried to do everything himself. He very nearly put himself in the hospital before he would let me sit with Mom at night. (Mom was very cantankerous at several points and very much disliked any of the sitters we tried to hire.)
We all know you know this, but it can be hard to remember when someone you love, as much as you love Mike, is having a problem.
<hugs> And you are BOTH in our thoughts!
