Went to the doctor and the doctor said . . .

. . . Yes, curing Sleep Apnea is indeed statistically rare. Yes, everything that you all said on this forum was technically correct. However, my doctor said . . .

1) A weight loss of 68-pounds isn't that common either.

2) Keeping it off for now 10-months is also uncommon.

3) ALL my health readings across the board are not only good they are exceptional - ideal in fact.

4) Based on the observed symptoms ALONE - which have now been observed for 9-months since we did this "trial" of not using the CPAP - it appears that the sleep apnea is either gone or no longer an issue.

5) However, it never hurts to validate via testing.

6) Therefore he is going to submit my case to the case review board BUT he told me not to be surprised if they do NOT recommend another test.

I want to thank you for your help. However, I also feel like I must say this . . .

You all seem well meaning. However some of you come across as a bit . . . well . . . obsessed with the whole subject of Sleep Apnea and sleep disorders. As someone who was new and was, frankly, without a clue about this board's culture I found it quite unsettling.

I know that it can be easy to forget when you're in cyberspace but there is a person on the other end of the post not an idea, a concept or a theory - I have done it myself. Unfortunately you don't have the benefit of non-verbal clues such as clothes, tonal tone, grooming - i.e. overall look and feel - as a means of sussing your audience up on a forum board. Finally you're discussing a rather personal subject, one that can inadvertantly touch on a sensitive nerve. I would think that posting here is a bit like brain surgery - cut too far to the left or the right and you can cause harm.

Therefore, perhaps a lighter touch might be in order where you're working here with newbies and people who are NOT regular, well-known members. Just something for those who ARE regular members here to consider . . . and my 2-p.

Best regards and thank you for your input and assistance - it was both accurate, well intended and I do appreciate it.

by now, you've probably left, but i think you should keep your machine.

1) I hear the "weight loss high" in your voice from having lost so much weight and kept it off. i've been there, done that, several times actually. was diagnosed with cpap when i was thin.

2) i don't think one month w/o cpap is enuf to decide you don't need the machine. i didn't realize (yes, i was working hard to ignore and deny) that i needed the machine until years after my therapy. i got rid of a lot of stuff in the interim. although my machine is primitive compared to most that the folks here have, i'm glad i kept it. i also did major cleanouts over the years. you may want/need it if you decide to go back to cpap, and the machine is not around.

hey, i might want to buy your machine--try again on ebay with the prescription warning clearly displayed--but i agree with the others, that you shouldn't sell it.
