Anybody know when the Pilairo will become available in the US market?

Glad that it works for at least one person! I wonder when it will be available here in the US. However, my biggest concern with it would be the single strap - the shape of my head indicates to me that I would need to have an additional strap to ensure stability at the back of the head. Also to ensure that the mask goes on in the same way each night. Meantime, I am quite happy with my Aloha - especially with the 1.21 AHI over the last 3 weeks!

It looks like you are trying all types of pillows. How about a nasl mask????

I tried several pillows during my fitting, and had that "can not breath feeling"..... I even let them talk me into trying it for a few nights. I switched to a nasel mask..... no more stuffy feeling, no more struggling to breath feeling, no more sore nose inthe morning from the pillows getting inflated as teh presure ramped up (I am on auto pap).

Rather than keeping to find a comfortable pillow mask, why not try a differnt kind of mask?

Thats normal for a "cheap mask" here. Its even worse at the DME.
AU$250 = US$90 in mask pricing.
Last week AU$ 250 = US$250 in cash.

OMG, that's just plain sinful! What a shame.

I'd have to go back to my old posts to see the one where I listed all my masks in the first year but it felt like a lot more than that. I ended up putting them all in a bag and giving them to a relative, keeping only the CL2 for daily use, a FF mask for backup when having a cold etc., and an old favorite which I'm now giving away. Just got an email from a CPAP supply company, they are taking pre-orders for the Pilairo now.

I just figured out that my élan is the 19th style of mask I have tried in 26 months on the hose.
Moral: Don't get frustrated; it is too soon.

I assume this Cpap supply company isn't cpap.com.

Since Craggerss has actually tried the new mask I have a question for him (or anyone else who might know). Do the nasal pillows swivel or are they fixed in one position? I like being able to adjust each side to fit my nose better.

I've been on CPAP for 8 years and hubby for about 15. It's only been in the last 2 years that we have taken over our therapy. I was frustrated that I couldn't get a new machine without a new sleep study back then. We have no insurance now and couldn't afford it but my machine was on it's last leg. After doing some online research I found a place to purchase my machine without a prescription. I also found a site that told me how to change the settings myself. Talk about liberating!

My problem continues to be a good mask. I can't stand anything over my nose...I'm claustrophobic I guess. I started out using a really old version of the Adam style nasal pillows. Made my nose sore but I soldiered through because I didn't know I could get a different mask! Several years later I discovered online cpap supplies and decided to go rogue. I ordered the then new ComfortLite 1 with direct seal cushions. I LOVE the direct seal vs the nasal pillows. Same idea but doesn't go inside the nostril, thus no sore nose. However, just when I found a mask I loved...they discontinued it!!! The new ComfortLite 2 uses the same direct seal but I HATE the headgear! It's hot and rubs the hair off your head. So I struggle along babying an old headgear that should have been replaced years ago. I have tried 5 different masks to date and none are as comfortable as my ComfortLite 1. And yes, I have tried the Breeze. Looks similar but is soooo uncomfortable in comparison!

So, here I am again...trying yet another mask. <Sigh>

Called my DME a few days back, and they told me they were getting some of the Pilairo's in (I'm in Alberta, Canada). They called me yesterday and I picked one up to trial for a few days.

Tried it last night. Interesting. I am not sure if I love or hate the new nosehugger....will take a couple nights to get used to.

CONS:

1) Noise. Not that the noise is that loud, but it is loudER than my Swift LT. The vents seems to "hiss" more on inhales. I have virtually no base of comparison here though as I have only ever tried 1 mask other than this one. I'll see if the wife noticed anything etc.
2) Fit. Still not completely sure on the fit. I have a small nose, and because of this I find the "wings" on the back of the mask press against my cheek bones a bit. I'll play around with the fit tonight some more.
3) Price. Well, not a direct CON to me as I have a health plan that covers it...but they want $300 for it here. It is a really SOLID piece of equipment though.

Both cons 1/2 may turn into non-issues as I get used to the different feel/fit/sounds.

PROS:

1) Performance...this things does NOT move on your nose. Like it is glued on.
2) Performance.....no dry eyes this morning. Must be leaking causing it on the Swift LT.
3) Performance...I normally have numerous "sense-awakes" (an F&P Icon term) every night with my Swift LT...with this mask...NONE. ZERO. Not sure why....will test more.
4) Performance...I do seem to have slept deeper last night. Again...will take a few nights to see how I adjust/maintain.
5) Performance....side-sleeping. Not a problem. Can not do it with my Swift LT...tears the mask out of my nose. Pilairo...no issue.
6) Fit (I know...this was a CON too). I could really see me loving this mask...or hating it. Or loving it...wow, I'm confused.

The Pilairo does not push/catch/grab on the pillow much at all that I noticed when I tried moving to my side. I am a back sleeper mostly now (I USED to be a side sleeper, but having a mask that did not work well while side-sleeping trained me to back-sleep), so ended up back on my back again anyways.

I found that with the Swift, the straps were really the key to getting a good fit. I would adjust the straps to make the Swift fit properly, and as such, side-sleeping would make the pillow pull on the straps, making it leak/slide off. With the Pilairo, the straps are secondary to holding it in place, and as such as small, don't grab much on the pillows, and don't exert as much force on the mask, and as a result, interfere much less.

Does that make sense?

I am almost anxious to try it again tonight....
