I took a length of dental floss, about 8", folded it in the middle, and threaded it up under the spring frame. I caught the little tab at the top of the cushion with the middle of the floss and pulled it down and forward and then tied the ends of the floss to the spring frame to hold the tab into the frame.
This fix is still working for me. I've tried 3 different headgear, small, medium, and the crown part of my Halo chin strap. Actually, I like the Halo strap the best. It is built to naturally fit as ziipppp describes adjusting the Fx gear, with the top strap sitting further back on the head. I don't think I roll or tip the mask too much when I put it on, but without the dental floss, I still get the separation about half way through the night regardless of the headgear used. I'm a pretty active sleeper, lots of side, back, side action. I suppose that could be the problem.

This happens to me nightly! It is driving me crazy. Somewhere here I thought I read about putting a rubber band on it. I am going to try the rubber band tonight. If no luck, tomorrow night I go with the dental floss. I am tired of losing sleep because I wake up from the leaks, and my dr. says he has no other option for me. I tried the hybrid mask but aparently my nostrils are too small for a small size, because I wake up in pain from them being stretched. Also, I had worse dry mouth with that one.
Thanks for the solution!

There was discussion of this mask in an extra small, but it really does not exist. I have asked Resmed. The person who posted they have one must have been confused by the similar names. The Mirage Quattro comes in the XS, but the Quattro FX does not.

Maybe if more people ask for an XS, they might make one.

I had this problem nightly too. It was giving me the absolute shits as it was ruining my treatment and I was still getting hypoxic damage without realizing. It is a bloody moron of a design. Otherwise the mask was good (apart from the mask riding up into my eyes which also gave me the shits and sore eyes).

They need to redesign the FX completely. I use the standard Quattro now and have no problems with it apart from swelling and lumping on the bridge of my nose but the cushion stays in because of the lockable plastic gasket that locks in the cushion. If they installed a similar gasket on the FX there wouldn't be much wrong with it about from the riding up issue.

Jay could you please draw a little diagram on paint and post it to show how you fixed the FX with the floss? It sounds like a great idea, but I just can't picture how you have done it without a diagram. I would love to try that myself.

The Respironics FullLife is a much better fit for me, and the cushion has NEVER popped out of the frame.

Looks nice. I don't know when I can get a new mask, but I am just try that one when it is time. I am only 10 weeks into treatment with two masks already, so I probably have to wait several months.

The rubber band trick worked! I used a thin rubber band and hooked it over the top tab of the cushion. I looped it under the snap on piece on front and under the vent plugs on the bottom. No popping all night!

I've just gone to the rubber band as well. Just catch the tab at the top of the cushion with a rubber band, pull it down over and past the hose nozzle and catch it on the vent plugs on the bottom. Works better than dental floss in that it doesn't have to be tied and facilitates removing and replacing the cushion. The unstretched length of my rubber band was maybe 2 1/2 inches.

Ok, my fx quattro small has also decided to leak and has for several nights. Generally I like the mask because its not as invasive as the other full face . The bridge of my nose doesn't weant to negotiate with tightening and even as I tried to tighten (and then loosen) this mask, nothing was comfortable and nothing stopped the leaking.

Sooo I see this post and trying to get the visual I have the mask in fron t of me. When you say the tab at the top of the cushion, are you meaning the plastic tab at the nose area of the plastic hard mask or are you saying there is a tab in the actual soft cushion?

Thanks...I will try anything.

lliann, the tab at the top of the soft cushion. See the pics. Notice I'm using my swift fx headgear

oo ooo oooo oooo, that was perfect! I wasn't 'seeing' that. I have a swift fx. How come you are using that headware?

The regular quattro fx headgear was hitting a nerve or something at the base of my skull and causing a lot of discomfort. This swift fx headgear is a lot more comfortable for me. For the bottom strap, I cut the bottom off an old quattro headgear and used that. The bottom strap and the top are not connected now.

Hmm, I will try it all. Yes, I too was not comfortable with all those straps in the back (plus the long hair) Thank you for the advice. I think I can figure out the jerryrig in the back.<g>

lliann, by cutting the bottom strap off another headgear, I just ended up with a strap with velcro loops at each end. To those loops, I attached the original quattro fx bottom fasteners. Now, this bottom strap just "floats" at the back of my neck, probably a little lower than the original. Really no jerryrigging required. To attach the top straps, which is the swift fx headgear, I just slid the portions where you would normally attach the pillows along the Quattro Fx flex frame under the cloth protective wrap. The wrap seems tight enough to hold it without anything else.

any chance you have a picture of this also? I took the swift strap off and went hmm. Aparrently I have no innate engineering genes.
