Sweaty sock indeed, I'm an Englishman abroad my friend, I just love the clean air up here. My last face off I told my doc that the people on the forum knew more about OSA than he could dream of. My appoint ment this year will be filled with fireworks if anyone so much as raises an eyebrow at me when it comes to data gathering.
My argument will be about how can they send people home with an open Autoset (Full Range) when they know full well it wont treat them properly like they did me. Now Im educated I know full well that apneas will be missed as the autoset cannot get up to preasure when its set at 4cm -20cm. Ive now got mine up at 10cm to start with as my preasure is usally around 12cm to deal with my apneas. They dont tell you that at the clinic! Oh I'm ready for them this year

Ask him to give you an example of a forum causing alot of damage to patients. i will bet the SOB can't.
This jerk needs to understand that the days of doctors being the rulers in medical treatment of patient is over. He needs to realize this is 2012 and not 1900 and that patients are equal partners in their care. Actually, we are in charge as it is our health and body.
Ok, rant over.

Gazhacks is in the UK. His doctor is Scottish, or one of them is anyway.
They think different over there! That's why we have the the Declaration of Independence!!

Better a dead patient who gave up CPAP than one who commits blasphemy by looking at secret doctor information.
Sort of like the Catholic church burning people at the stake for possessing an English language bible in the 16th century.

One tip I've found useful with SD cards, I always flip the read/only tab whenever I put it in the reader. Just in case the pc has a virus it can't corrupt the card. I don't use a MAC but I also heard they write a small index file to SD cards automatically. Making it 'read only' also avoids any inadvertant mishaps like moving files instead of copying. Just remember to flip it back to read/write before you insert it back in your machine. Not a bad habit to get into, even if you don't have the xpap police...

This is a little off the subject but my wifes mother use to have a dog that would smile like the dog in your avatar Gazhacks. Made me always wonder what he was thinking when he was doing that.

If you have an SD card, it will have a little tab. If you move the little white bit of plastic, the card can't have its data changed so if you take the card out of your device, move the tab to the locked position, plug it into your PC and read the data, remove the card, move the switch back to the unlocked position and then put it back in the cpap machine... no one will ever be able to tell it.
Macs have a bad habit of indexing the stuff on the card and will look through it all and scribble a file to it. That is rumoured to cause problems. The current advice for users of sleepyhead for the mac is to always use the write protect feature when reading the data on a mac.

When the cpap police come to my house I will make a deal with them and offer you up for a lighter sentence.. Of course I was told that it was against a "federal" law for a patient to have the software. Duh. This was back when both Encore and ResScan were openly sold to patients by Respironics and ResMed.

Stupid seems to have the run of the planet--no international (or ethical) boundaries observed.
