claritin generic costco house brand , 365/$11.50ish.

Mine were being automatically shipped to me while away. I just kept cleaning the ones I had, and over time just never really opened them. Then, a Doctor refitted me with a smaller one. So, they are just sitting in a bin under my bed.

You...you must have great insurance.... DME made lots of money. You must have been gone for a l o n g time.

Easybreathe.com will sell you a mask. They show you how to get around the need for a script by buying the mask and headgear separately; that way it's considered 'parts'.

So does CPAP.COM........the SPONSOR of this forum. "Parts" do not require a prescription. A complete mask does.
They're called mask kits. You get the parts and put them together yourself.

Off topic: what would happen if the power went out during the night and we didn't wake up? I assume there is some safeguard against suffocation?

Any mask that covers the mask has a built-in anti-asphyxiation valve. It stays closed when the pressure is on and automatically opens when the pressure stops. So it is easy to breathe even when the machine is turned off (or the power goes out). Any mask that does not cover the mouth is no risk unless you tape, and even then not a big risk. Most people will naturally open their mouth to breathe if no air is coming in through the nose.

I think ZCP meant to say "mouth" in that part of her post.......as she does so further on.

But, yeah, the full face masks aren't a problem in that regard. And, you WILL wake up.......once you get used to the air blowing into your respiratory system.......the "lack of air" blowing toward you is what will awaken you. It's happened to me 2 or 3 times over the years during power outages and I woke up almost immediately.
